Finally finished my compilation of Nina Simone songs and listening to it gives me goosebumps. Compiling songs is kind of an obsession

First time I heard her songs was in the movie "The point of no return", very good movie, after that I bought a compilation, but I don't listen it.

I hope 'I wish I knew how it would feel to be free' is on your compilation.
A fine song

I yesterday attended a concert by my favourite Arab singer, Natacha Atlas. She did a tribute to Nina Simone as well by singing one cover of her, an Arabesque version of "If my lovers hair..."... mmm, not entirely sure of the song anymore, it is not a Natacha Atlas song so I didnt know the song yet like I know Natachas own songs. She sang it in the middle of her set as she said she wanted to pay tribute to Nina.

I don't think I've seen that movie yet. Now I'm curious about it :chin:

"Black is the color of my true love's hair"? Yeah, I love that song. I'm curious as to how an Arabesque version would sound like :chin: I'll have to give Natacha Atlas a listen.

That was the song yes. It was just an acoustic cover with an Arab touch to it. Quite an original cover. It was totally different from Natachas normal work though, as she usually sings Arab traditional music. The Nina Simone tribute was the last thing I expected from Natacha Atlas, but on the other hand I did like it, it was different but I liked it.

If you want to check out Natacha Atlas, I heavily recommend the songs Mistaneek, Mon Amie La Rose, Amulet, Bastet, and Yalla Chant. For Mistaneek and Amulet, look for the album versions though and not the single CD versions. Quality Arab music! I met Natacha after the concert and can safely say she is a great lady, very down to earth.

I love Nina Simone, my parents used to listen to her a lot so it brings back a lot of good memories.

have you heard Jeff Buckley singing her songs? quite impressive for a (white) bloke I must say.
