any dubstep maniacs here? got anything you'd recommend?

I've just downloaded Skream's Essential Mix from BBC Radio 1, it's already two years old but sounds amazing, and- it's whole 120 minutes long! I know I'm not going to be able to listen to anything else for the next few months.

I don't feel at all qualified to post in this thread, but since it's getting no replies I feel obliged to bump it. Burial's Untrue is good and I really like his s/t record. I haven't heard anything else yet.

I've only dabbled in this a bit; I can list some of the tunes I've heard and liked:

Boxcutter - Chiral
Martyn - Twenty Four
Digital Mystikz and Loefah - Twisup
Digital Mystikz - Give Jah Glory
Technical Itch - Winter

Of course you can probably spot my bias pretty quick (maybe the screen name and avatar already give it away); I'm a much bigger junglist than dub stepper so when I hear something that feels like older Matrix, Optical, or anything like Metalheadz or Prototype to a different tempo its gold to me.

The real sublimely eerie side of dub step, don't have any good examples here but when I've heard it, the beat ends up having this sort effect where it sort of enshrines the core of the track and spirals it upward. Its like taking Sonar by Trace or the old Source Direct eeriness and compacting it even more.

I could probably go on about some things in a different thread, don't want to hijack. However, one of my tunes ended up being a bit of a hybrid; if you listen to Dust, its something like a stylistic blend between the two (dubstep and d&b).

SPL's another junglist, like Technical Itch, who's starting to experiment with this a bit. Heard this on a dubstep mix I found on Raiden's Offkey forums:

By the way Anna, I've gotta do a post-mortem and exume this thread.

Ever hear of Babylon System? I'm tuning in, f$$$ing brutal:

Babylon System - Examination of Time

Babylon System - Everyday Hustle

Also highly recommended; heard some Dubchild:

Dubchild - Suddenly

I'll have to keep my ear to the ground for this genre; hard to outside the UK but its fascinating because its one of those styles which is still becoming more and more self-aware by the day. As that happens the beats with smack the mirror, shatter, hit second or third generation points of shutter and origin; can't wait to hear it.

Keep you ear to the ground for the good ish though, I'll try and throw anything your way on here that really jumps out at me as being of particular quality - aaight?

Dubstep is very hit and miss, mostly because I can't find myself getting in to the rhythm. That and the vocal samples can get in the way for me. I prefer dubtech myself.

Good thoughts :). Anna, liked all three a lot but also wanted to mention something with Geiom, Scuba had some really crisp mellow-edged stuff like that when I was looking around.

I have a hunch right now that sometime soon I might have a special treat for you guys in in the WP Musician's Showcase; I think at this point I'm starting to see exactly what I want to try and pull out of it. I doubt that this will eclipse jungle in terms of my interests but I can see where producing both could have a real positive synergistic effect just on trying new angles and volleying melodic and structural ideas between the two (the sound engineering practice almost goes unsaid).

Anyway, 3 more on the dirty:

Scanone - Shock

Stenchman - Only Human

Rusko - William H Tonkins
