One artist who I can only think that not only made good music but catchy quotes.

"My role in society, or any artist's or poet's role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all."

__John Lennon

My favorite song Imagine:

Yeah I'm a little sappy.

Anyone else who's John Lennon fan?

I was a rabid John Lennon fan for many years...still am...but don't wear the uniform...he was a major obsession for quite a few years though....

Have kinda sorta been focusing on Yoko lately.

Yes! Imagine is the first of his songs with which I became familiar. A secular voice of reason.

"nothing to kill or die for" Too bad the nut who shot him wasn't listening!

I like John Lennon. Which may be a bit odd because I grew up with the Beatles (my dad is a huge fan and has all the records) and never understood the whole hype, I would dare to say the Beatles are highly overrated and nowhere near the best bands ever. SOmehow Lennon solo does interest me a lot however, it seems since he left the Beatles he completely flourished and further developed away from the mainstream and towards music which dared to experiment and dared to spread a message that was really in-depth and needed to be heard. Must say though that, however I am by no means a fan of the Beatles, the Beatles songs I do like were also mostly written by Lennon. Maybe I should say Paul McCartney is highly overrated rather than saying the Beatles were overrated. But Lennon solo is much more interesting to me than the Beatles, it was like being on his own with the free will to do whatever he felt like doing made him completely flourish as a performer and a poet.

Imagine is a timeless song but I think Working Class Hero is fantastic as well. That is the sort of song I would never imagine coming from the Beatles, and a perfect example of how going solo released Lennon from all artistic boundaries.

I can't stand 'Imagine.'

However, I adore John Lennon.

He has a lot of amazing solo work - but I have the most respect for Lennon because of him breaking up the Beatles, for love. He adored Yoko Ono. And he broke up the biggest band ever to follow his heart. That's amazing to me. What guts. What dignity, what principle.

He's my favorite Beatle. :) I had his poster on my bedroom wall in high school, and wore wire-rimmed glasses like his.

I remember reading an interview with him where Lennon talked about the lyrics of "Strawberry Fields"--"no one I think is in my tree/ I mean it must be high or low", and he explained that bit was about the fine line between being a genius and a madman, and wondering which he was. I think a lot of people with AS wonder that about themselves, too.

It's extremely easy for me to not like Imagine.

'Imagine no posessions...'

Says man sitting in giant flawless white mansion with huge white piano, and millions of pounds.

'It's easy if you try...'

Some of us aren't imagining, and some of us donm't have to try.

John Lennon is my all-time hero! there was no one else like him! he was so
different from evrybody else & he always knew he was a genius! Lennon
has helped me through very difficult times along with the Beatles! Imagine is
my fav songs ever along with Strawberry Fields Forever. i imagine a lot of crazy
things and that's one of the reasons i relate. musically Paul McCartney has always
been my fav & still remains my fav musician to this day! but Lennon's vision was
very different to other people which is how i felt myself! Lennon should be still
here today!!
