What music brings tears to your eyes?

I'm interested to know what pieces of music makes fellow WrongPlaneteers feel all emotional.

For me, it's Edward Elgar's Nimrod. I haven't worked out why yet but it rarely fails to move me. Maybe it's about life and stuff. Or about the country where I live. I dunno.

Over to you, folks.

Stuff like Evanescence's "Hello" or NIN's "Hurt." It's just so depressing.

EDIT: Oh, and there's plenty of music that just pisses me off to be forced to listen to, and were I in a terrible mood already it might make me cry from sheer anger. I'm talking about rap, hip hop, yodelling, country, western, latin, R&B, jazz, blues, ragtime, anything with bag pipes or accordians or harmonicas...

It is just entertaining no emotionality from it.

Haydn string quarters and any music, particularly in a folk motif, that speaks of the struggle to be accepted:

'In My Life' by The Beatles.

'Candle in the Wind 1997 (Goodbye England's Rose)' by Elton John. This reminds me of Princess Diana, but it reminds me more so, of what a beautiful Bus the Routemaster is/was. All I have to do is think about this song, and it makes me Shifty-Eyed.

'I Wish That It Would Rain' by The Temptations.

'The White Cliffs of Dover' by Vera Lynn.

'Taking ret*ds to The Zoo' by The Dead Milkmen. I was called that a couple of times, in my Early Years in Elementary School. My Little Sis also works with Special Needs Teenagers, and they're a lot smarter than what people give them credit for.

'A Mother's Lament' by Cream. I don't like Dead Baby Jokes. Another thing is that I hope that at least one of the members of that group had an actual Cockney Accent, and that they're not all just poking fun of an Accent that's as cute and friendly as The London Cockney or else I'm removing that song from my Limewire Account.

'Pretty Paper' by Roy Orbison. More so after December 9th, than before that horrible day, in London.

I'd have to agree with CockneyRebel's 'In My Life', but I prefer the way Dave Matthews does it...give it a listen if you can.

The Unforgiven -- Metallica. The song is so personal to me and it brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. It just sums up my entire life.

Lindsay Lohan, 50 cent, nickelback, jessica simpson, usher... basically anything popular nowadays... It makes me sad that all this s**t sells and that this is music now.

Well, Eric Clapton was born in Ripley, Surrey. Ginger Baker was born in Lewisham, South London. Jack Bruce was born in Bishopbriggs, Lanarkshire, Scotland.

They all did vocals, so I'm not sure, as a Yank, if any or all of that would account for a Cockney accent on a particular cut.

If they did ever fake an accent, I'm sure it was some artistic effect and not to sound "cute." They weren't a cute band.

Lately it's been Bach's "Jesu, Meine Freude".

Anything played by awful Pianists...............

I love that line from Pink Floyd's 'Learning To Fly'.

That's probably the best example, though there are many others. It's strange because a lot of Phil Lynott's stuff with Thin Lizzy - the introverted, self-depracating stuff in particular - in which he appears to talk about himself I can relate to to such an extent that I feel he's talking about me.

Sounds funny but I'm serious.

Hmm, there are a few, especially if I'm in the right mood. But the ones I remember the most is: I Died For You - Iced Earth and Something I Can Never Have - Nine Inch Nails and Alone I Break - Korn. Hmm I should get around to remembering the others.
