need some advice from Minecraft texture-pack-making experts

hey, anyone who's really into MC enough to make texture packs or know anyone who does?
I've been really wanting to make the absolutely finite, detailed, original tweak-crazy projects you mc lovers create without all the stress that comes with it...what's the secret? I'm giving up on trying Photoshop all by itself or importing pointless Sketchbook express tryouts. I really want to make a cool one so if you play minecraft or use minecraft forums a lot...or may be lucky enough to make the packs yourself I really want your help.
