Weird Al made a grave mistake in attempting a parody of MacArthur Park? A song that goes "Someone left a cake out in the rain"? As if anyone can top that in terms of laughs? And to make it about an overexposed overhyped movie of the time, Jurassic Park? Big mistake.

This may qualify for the Adult section, given the amount of sensuality in it, but oh well...

Doubtless no one has heard of the one I'm thinking of, but it was a really awful parody of "Wake Up, Little Susie" that I heard on a Louisiana pop station back in the mid-eighties... It was called "Wake Up or Eat Sushi" and was supposed to be a political, satirical bit on the subject of the old "Japanese buying up everything" that everyone was griping about. It included a most embarrassing imitation of singing in a Japanese(?) accent. This station often played things of that sort... I guess everyone wanted to be like Weird Al then, he'd just released the album with "Eat It" on it and was a big deal.

I do think he does outstanding work, though, even if not every song is a winner. His style parody of They Might Be Giants was spot on, for the time it came out, anyway. They've changed a lot. And "Smells Like Nirvana" at times can almost pass for the original (except for his voice, which should be a little different, IMO). But the one that really strikes me is old "Yoda" but not so much for Al, though he did a good job, but because of Ray Davies. I heard that he listened to Al's original and insisted it be redone with a closer sound to "Lola". I was impressed. That's the voice of experience, advice Al was lucky to get. He's certainly done that ever since, with some very good results. Now, Ray may not have been trying to give good advice but I give Al credit for taking it that way.

Laibach are great - their version of "Jesus Christ Superstar" is fantastic, just as most of their work.

The claymation video was worth it.

a parody of a pop song (like the cure, duran duran ) in French (the lyrics are also incredibly funny, and on purpose extremely complex to the point that it is unintelligible)

The best parody I've heard is one by a Canadian indie artist who records and works out of Chicago named Adam Fallon. It's entitled If I Had Only $1 and it's a parody of BNL If I Had A Million Dollars.

Although I love Weird Al stuff I really can't decide which out of Which Backstreet Boy's Gay and The Ebay Song his two parodies of the Backstret Boy's I Want It That Way I find more irritating.

Jim Carrey did some funny ones in the show "In Living Color", in the early 1990s.

Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby":

I also like the MadTV parodies I've seen on Youtube. Just search for MadTV + Shakira, Britney, or 50 Cent, and you'll find some cool ones.
