YouTube country code (??)
ok so I just noticed that I can't watch some music videos on Youtube, there's a pink banner at the top of the page that says "this video is not available in your country"
is there any way to crack this? I tried to change my settings (I'm not sure if I'm doing this right though, I'm no expert) but nothing changed.
I do watch DVDs that are country-coded only for US though, they work fine on my computer (they won't work on my DVD player which is set to Europe) so I'm quite puzzled about this... anybody have any ideas?

Maybe it has to be in a different format but if it's on YouTube it's more than likely something that is restricted in your country or something. If that is the case then it likely won't matter what you set anything as because it will likely go based on the location of your internet service provider based on the internet IP address that your computer is using at that time.

I know, that's annoying as hell. Like the South Park Studios website won't let you view episodes if you're outside the USA, which is ridiculous. Since when did the internet have borders, huh?

yeah I always thought that all those dark scenarios about the future of the Internet were an exaggeration...
guess one day we'll have to pay to view websites and click on ads and sh*t...

The Internet does not have borders. It's apparently the fact that the South Park designers or whatever you want to call them only want Americans to be permitted to view their material though I can't imagine why they would care who views it but from what was said here I can only assume that.
I notice that you are from the United Kingdom. The BBC has certain movies on their websites that can only be viewed from in the UK for that same type of reason. They want to have some control over who can view it, that's natural and they have every right to do that despite that some people may not like it very much.
There are ways to still be able to see if it you go through a proxy server in the US but that could be pretty slow unless you are paying a monthly fee for a service in the US like that though I'm not sure how legal that would be but that is a way around it. That or you could have a friend in the US and have them load it on YouTube and then use a program to download it to a file and then transfer that to you. That's more complicated and the average person doesn't know how to do that and that is what they count on knowing that they will be able to more or less control what people can view what material on the website.
Also it may not be at all that they care who can view their material but more on the bandwidth it takes to send that material to the viewer. The Southpark makers would have to pay for a server and a decent fiber internet connection for all of the upload capacity and a monthly fee based on their capacity. Since it is an American made and American show they might be more willing to use their capacity to upload it to American viewers than send it along overseas fiber lines for people in other countries to view and therefore reduce the available upload capacity on their servers for American viewers to use to watch it.
