The first step is i am going to create a compitition tree, it will be set up that similar artists will face each other at the beginning and genres will collide at the end.
the amount of contenders HAVE to be 2^x, i do not want anyone complaining about a bye. my current divisions are (if there is more demand than i will increase it to a-h):

1) CCM
a:
b:
c:
d:

2) Urban
a: Eminem
b: 50cent
c: Kanye West
d: Usher
e: Soulja boy
f:
g:
h:

3) Heavy
a:
b:
c:
d:

4) Mainstream
a: Coldplay
b: Shania Twain
c:
d:

Historical

5) CCM
a: Rich Mullens
b: DC talk
c:
d:

6) Urban
a: Tupac
b:
c:
d:

7) Heavy (for the era)
a:
b:
c:
d:

8) Mainstream
a: Beatles
b: Elvis
c: U2
d: Rolling stones

after that it will be a series of week long polls to determine the winner.

Some good alternative: the Velvet Underground, Foo Fighters, David Bowie, Dinosaur Jr., Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smashing Pumpkins, and Radiohead.

Kaiser Chiefs are excellent. Especially "I Predict A Riot". But I guess you're probably not into similar bands like Bloc Party, Arctic Monkeys or The Libertines (they were good, then Pete Doherty discovered drugs and then the band split and he formed Babyshambles who are a below average band) either. Which is a shame. That's some of my favorite music right now.

Oasis made two good records and after that made a bunch of bad records with one or two good songs on them a piece ("Gas Panic!" and "Don't Go Away" are the only two great songs they've released since 1997).

Agree with you on the Killers though. I will hate them forever after that awful Joy Division cover they did.

America also has a good indie rock scene too, filled with great, intelligent bands like TV on the Radio, The Decemberists, Wolf Parade and No Age.

Dinosaur Jr. is a great alternative band. They are pretty underrated. It takes some time to get used to their music though. Its...Different then most. Listen to anything off their "You're Living All Over Me" album. IMO its their best album.

I find Kaiser Chiefs to geeky. And they think they're good. Plus their frontman is really annoying. Their songs are really annoying actually and repetetive. Similar with Artic Monkeys, that guy's voice is dreadful. I really like the Libertines 1st album, modern day classic.
