WRITE THE BOOK FIRST!

Oh, and there's a book called "Getting published FOR DUMMIES" (yes, it's from those guys), but it'll give you a realistic glimpse into getting into a major publisher. Publishing your own work yourself can get expensive quick!

I've read that one! It was very informative, and more importantly, realistic. I've read a fair few other writing guides, and the For Dummies One is definately the best.
