As of right now I'm tired of the whole lack of imagination that I wanted to post a scene from one of my pieces in progress.
As I said before, this is the first scene of my writing exercise I'm doing right now (not named at the moment.) The piece as a whole is not complete, so any critiques and comments are appreciated. Enjoy!

Sometimes I feel just like a gerbil, running around on his wheel. I leaned back in my chair and sighed. What does that mean? In fact, why am I thinking about it? I slumped down to my desk, my hand rubbing my head. "A gerbil. Just like last case."
"Wham!" I winced the moment the door opened, and I felt like a drunk. Once again I slumped to my desk, bumping my nose against the edge.
"Good God!" I said while rubbing my nose. "Why do you have to come in now? Right when I'm pondering about our last case."
"Sorry Jasper," a voice said from the hallway. A set of flappings fluttered into my ears, and from the doorway walked in Emily holding a stack of papers, a few sheets falling on the floor. She placed them on the desk. "The bills came in today."
"Great! Now of all times!" I picked the top sheet and skimmed it. Just then the sound of a gong pounded my head, and I began to sweat. "How are we going to tell the church about this?"
Emily rolled her eyes to her shoes. From there I knew her expressions: teary eyes; flushed face; a hand over her face. "How are we, Jasper? It'll take a miracle to save this agency."
"Ring, ring!" I lifted my head and turned to the night stand. The phone. What is it? Who's on it?
"I'll get it," Emily said. She leaned forward and grabbed the phone. "Hello! Jasper and Emily's Second Chance Agency! How can we help you?"
I cocked an eyebrow and sulked in my chair. "Great, what now?"
Emily held her palm in front of me, signalling me to stay silent. "Huh-huh! Huh-huh! Well, we'll get right on it." And she place the phone on the arm. "Mr. Kaufmann wants to see us. Urgent business." A hint of seriousness from her eyes shot into mines. Urgent business alright.
"I see," I said, lifting myself form the chair. I grabbed my coat and wrapped it around me. Then I met her eyes with mines. "Grab a Bible and a crucifix." And I walked toward the door when a thought came to me, stopping my feet near the door hinges. "Oh, and bring a mace."
"A mace, Jasper? Do we really need it?"
I walked out of the door and pinched my thumb with my teeth. "Bring it Emily. Trust me." And then like a road runner I made a sharp turn to the hall way.
"Hey! Wait for me!"
