I think Keane's first album was very impressive, I know their second one wasn't too successful, but maybe that was due to the lead singer's drug problems. Does anyone know whats happening with them now?

They're on a world tour April-August (Australia, Japan, USA, Canada, Holland, Belgium, Ireland, UK festivals).

What do you think about the latest album?

Keane rules ---- they are the best for contemporary music act in my view!! !

A turning tide
Lovers at a great divide
Why d'you laugh?
When I know that you're hurt inside?

And why'd you say
It's just another day, nothing in my way
I don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay
So there's nothing left to say?
And why'd you lie
When you wanna die, when you're hurt inside
Don't know what you lie for anyway
Now there's nothing left to say

A tell-tale sign
You don't know where to draw the line

And why'd you say
It's just another day, nothing in my way
I don't wanna go, I don't wanna stay
So there's nothing left to say
And why'd you lie
When you wanna die, when you're hurt inside
Don't know what you lie for anyway
Now there's nothing left to say

Well for a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time
For a lonely soul, it seems to me that you're having such a nice time
You're having such a nice time

(Just...)
For a lonely soul, you're having such a nice time

You're having such a nice time
(...anyway)

Perfect Symmetry ~ released October 2008. It's not bad, haven't listened to all of it yet, but the first album is still the best.

The second album, Under the Iron Sea, was darker (again not as good as the first!) and you can definitely hear about Tom's problems in the lyrics in a few of the tracks.

I'd recommend them both if you're a fan, but they probably won't convert non-fans :)

And will Keane come to my town (Singapore)? I'd love to listen to their songs 'live' too!

I thought Perfect Symmetry was a bit too poppy. The first album was better I think. There are a few good songs, but none of them are as good as Everybody's Changing and Somewhere only we know.

just about everything on the first album is good. I like bad dream and crystal ball among others. some other u.k. bands I really like are starsailor, long blondes, the automatic, manic street preachers. I also like girls aloud I just don't tell anyone in public since it would qualify as a guilty pleasure.

Oh really? Gosh! :D :)

And from Wikipedia: In May 2008, both Hopes and Fears (#13) and Under the Iron Sea (#8) were voted by readers of Q magazine within the best British albums ever; The Beatles, Oasis, Radiohead (and of course, Keane) were the only musical acts having two albums in the top 20...

If the bands I mentioned on top are great, so is Keane...

And did anybody mentioned here that Keane changed my perception of rock? You don't need guitars to rock the world, man. Piano will do :)

Yeah. Keane pretty much went 'We don't do guitars. Bring me a Piano'...

That's pretty much what Coldplay have been doing for ages now but Coldplay's songs are less rocky.
