Fantasy, science fiction, comedy. In sub-genres, superheroes, action comedies, apocalyptic thrillers, and absurdist. Really, anything that isn't solely rooted in the boring old regular world.

Usually realistic stories, or young people's stories but the most I write is poems. I also like changing the words to songs so the lyrics are relevant to my own life, It's my second favourite hobby to drawing.

I enjoy writing short stories - Science Fiction, Ghost Stories, and Romance. Sometimes in combination.

I also enjoy writing adventure modules for tabletop role-playing games (AD&D and Traveller mostly).

Technical writing (manuals, descriptions, "White Papers," et cetera) is part of how I make my living.

My brain is in a constant state of chaos so I just focus on short stories. I usually write Fantasy, Horror and occasionally Sci-Fi and anything based on Role-playing games (Especially the World of Darkness games).
Tend to stick to Steampunk, Post-apocalyptic, and sometimes epic fantasy when writing with sub-genres.

I love writing in a poetic way, just like Dr Seuss some would say
Anyway, I love Dr Seuss and I like writing childrens stuff like this. I am currently working on a couple different ones about autism. I am still learning about the different poetic meters and how to use them, so my work is probably not to great.

I used to write loads of short stories as a child, usually based on TV programmes I watched. These days I write stories about my experiences caring for an autistic child and my own feelings.

Wow! I see there's a lot of variety in the autism community, much more than at school. The people at school just want to write fanfiction and poems. Maybe we can post some here.

Short stories & poetry, generally because anything longer is too much for my attention span.
I use poetry to express myself but write short stories about interesting things unrelated to me.

Poetry is my number one way of expressing myself, since I have a mild synesthesia, I associate particular lines in the poem with certain personal traits, depending on the number of syllables in them. It's also one of the reasons I love Japanese poems, especially tanka poems.

Been in a long, long funk of not writing anything but occasional journal entries. Haven't tried a short story since late highschool, no essays in quite a few years. The makings of a novel are sloshing around my head, gaining steam but I'm still a ways from doing more than making notes.
I had this odd idea that I should accumulate a few decades of interesting experiences before trying to write anything serious, thereby avoiding putting out any embarassing, immature works.

I like writing poetry and song lyrics when I get ideas for them. I also like writing about social issues, and my main interest at the moment, slightly dark-ish fantasy. I'm currently having a lot of fun figuring out the magic system for the world in my book.
