All I can really offer is that stress is a sure killer of creativity.
I take it back. I do have a little more to offer. I'm just too late. But here goes...
Anything that moves you can inspire creativity. You can glean ideas from dreams, from music, from things you see, memories... Ah, speaking of memories, since that's all I have of the book I was using to learn more about plot construction (stolen when someone took my car and cleaned it out... really, what a thing to steal. They took a bunch of sand toys and a host of other useless items as well. Idiots.)... Anyway, there was one idea given in that book for boosting ideas (a lot in fact, but I didn't get time to use many of those).
You write a word in the center of a paper, then just start writing words around it, anything that comes into your head in connection with that word, and then anything that pops up from those thoughts, and so on, and fill up the paper. It can really get your mind moving, and the beauty of it is that you can use it on any word or idea that is giving you trouble. It's isn't genre specific. It's a sort of solitary brainstorming. If I'm really stalled, I'll do this, and then start a fresh one once my mind gets going since the first is often stagnant.
