I know a few people here read graphic novels and comics and I was wondering if people here read ones from Marvel or perhaps prefer ones from DC or a mix. I mainly read ones from Marvel although I like a mix.:)

Have you read any of the stuff under DC's Dark Horse?

Nope I don't think I have...I thought Dark Horse was an independent publishing house?

It's kind of like their indie/adult outlet.

Yes I read them. I read a mix of marvel and dc. From DC I like mostly green arrow and green lantern. I plan to buy "Marvels: Eye of the Camera" and Iron man´s "Armor Wars" that will be released here. I also was reading the first stories of Iron Man on Tales of Suspense. I bought Spider Man: with great powers... but haven´t read it yet. From Dark Horse I like Star Wars comics. :)

It's been a while since I could afford to indulge the addiction, but the last time I did, most of what I saw from Marvel had way too many teenage-soap-opera plot elements for my taste, whereas DC was sticking more closely to the adventure side of their stories. Characters who bicker constantly and swap romantic partners more than a swingers' convention just don't interest me much. Chick stuff.

I recently bought X-force Volume 3 and New Mutants classic Vol.2. The first volume of New Mutants classic that I read was as good as I had hoped so I'm looking forward to read the next one. :)

I get your point Willard that some of the books from Marvel can be a bit soap-opera like but maybe because I'm a girl I still like to read it.

I'm a Marvel fan myself. Right now I'm towards the end of reading the "Age of Apocalypse" X-men storyline.

I grew up with Marvel, and more or less, I've stayed loyal to them. As a kid, my favorite comic book was The Fantastic Four, and my favorite character was the Thing! Looking back at the character, I think I saw a lot of my Dad in Ben Grimm, aka the Thing. Both were more controlled by their anger, than controlling it. Both often said or did the wrong thing, and were given to lapses into self pity. But, both of them usually did the right thing in the end. I notice those kind of heroes are the ones I'm attracted to in real life, even today.
I grew up with the old Marvel black and white comics of the Hulk, Dracula, Howard the Duck, Conan the Barbarian, etc. - stuff that was more geared for older readers, much like graphic novels of today are. But there were also the more traditional super heroes, like The Fantastic Four (already mentioned), Iron Man, The Avengers, Marvel Two-In-One with the Thing and co-star, Super Villain Team Up (which I remember very fondly, indeed!), and lots of others.
Oh, I had strayed occasionally into the realm of DC, when it was popular to read Batman, and I love Dark Horse's new Conan series, though as I've said, I'm a Marvel Guy.
