ROFL - I guess it depends. Would he be more likely to avenge your honor if insulted, or ravage you after he sacks your village and beheads your husband?

Oh, we're assuming he's innocent. Could be a hero, or a poser -- the point is, you don't know (other than knowing that he's not evil). Are you like, "WOW!! !", are you like, "Hmmm, interesting...", or "Ugh!! !! !" :?:

Let's say you were bidding on him at a bachelor auction. How high would you go?

I don't want a fighter. I already had one of those. I theorize that guys who turn their aggression on when faced with a sports game or battlefield are an unfortunate myth of fiction. Fighters are fighters 24/7.

Are you just referring to guys that want to fight all the time, who turns everything into competition?

Or just fighting in general... in a generic sense.

I'm a pretty passive guy, but even I'll stand up to defend something if need be. Very few things are worth out and out fighting for, but some are...

Specifically, to want to defend the love of your life... I can't imagine this ever not being a desirable quality in a man. Well it sounds like a good quality to have in people in general...

Both. Either/or, I think. I said it on a bit of a whim, so I won't be upset if the idea doesn't stand under scrutiny. :)

Yeah, but that situation just isn't going to come up very often. I'd rather be with someone I can trust to be gentle to me on a regular basis, but who might get pulverized in a real fight for lack of skill or strength, than be with someone who could definitely defend me on the off-chance that we're attacked by aliens but in the meanwhile could just as easily turn on me. I guess I just associate fighting prowess with a short temper and selfishness. I know logically that this isn't necessarily the case, but regardless, I would discriminate against battlehardened sword guy if this were a reality TV dating show.

Ah, I'm not even talking about fighting in a bar room brawl sense. Or even anything physical...

Though I do see the fear of such a Man, especially one who frequently enjoys such confrontations.

I find it hard to believe that any woman would object to a guy who mentally and emotionally wants to defend his partner (although physically may not be able to).... if she is insulted or what have you.

Oh, I wouldn't object to that at all. Physically able is fine, too. I am just wary of men who seem eager to seek opportunities to prove this willingness. Motivation matters, too. Let defense be for the sake of honor and love, not for wrath or lack of self-control.

But sword guy... he just looks ready to fight.

I like him. He sort of has a feminine face, he's not all macho. Yet very masculine.

Ya, I understand this. I'm that way about passionate women. They usually have tempers, because they can't turn off the passion. I already had one of those. I'd rather have a kind smile than blazing eyes -- though, a little blaze is good. ;)

It is definitely possible for a woman to be too submissive for me. That's because I'm neither a full-time leader nor a full-time follower, so I require both give and take.
