I got that show on two DVDs with a game I bought. I didn't think that show provided enough historical analysis. And the re-creations looked really lame. But the crusades are definitely a cool subject!

Greetings. I probably should have posted more in these forums before posting this here (I do a decent bit of lurking but I very rarely post); however, I seem to fit the description (single and would like to someday not be), so here this is regardless.

My name is Luke (as is likely evident from my username). I'm male, 25, and live in Austin, Texas, USA. I'm a computer programmer for a small local company that does educational services nationally. I live by myself, although I do have two cats that keep me company. I have been diagnosed with Asperger's, although I don't have a date to attach to that (my parents likely do). I remember particularly disliking my neurologist. As far as physical appearance, I'm 6'1" and thin. I'm a wee bit shy to post a picture at the moment, but I'd probably be willing to send one upon genuine request.

Since posting interests seems to be the norm here, I have a couple. The first is philosophy, particularly as it informs my vocation (logic, epistemology, philosophy of language). I majored in this in college and it interests me to this day, although I don't read as much philosophy as I used to, because I have a day job now. The second is technology. I'm a programmer by trade, and enjoy gaming in a decent portion of my leisure time, as well as random gizmos and gadgets that are able to be found pretty much everywhere nowadays. The third interest I have would be history, specifically very quirky periods of history that I don't think are studied enough: classical (Greek & Roman), medieval, Renaissance, and World War I. I took four semesters of Ancient Greek, and although my Greek is sleeping, it's not gone.

Other hobbies I have include movies (but of course) and playing the piano, although I didn't have a piano while I was in college so I'm not as good at it as I used to be.

Although I don't see it in recent posts, the initial post in this thread asked for a description of what you're looking for in a significant other (girl, in my case). I'm looking for love (that likely seems ridiculously obvious), specifically shown in traits like kindness, understanding, forgiveness, etc. I'm pretty socially inept (a common theme on Wrong Planet, but worth mentioning nonetheless) and I believe that I embarrass myself and those around me somewhat frequently, which has made keeping friends and especially trying to find a romantic partner very difficult for me. On the flip side, the qualities I'm looking for (as listed above) are also qualities that I work very hard to exhibit, and I believe (and friends have told me) that I do in fact genuinely care for friends well.

That is all. I wish everyone posting the best of luck. :)

1; My original post on this thread is on Page 7. Man I've been gone a while. 2; We have countless in our ranks who have extraordinary talents and thrive in order generally, and this was the most efficient singles listing we could come up with? I vote we start a task force

Anyways....

Name: Paul
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Age: 21
Profession: IT/Network Administration

I'm the standard overly enthusiastic, over analytical, thinks and worries to much but never airs to the side of caution. I like my relationships how I like the rest of my life, following all the proper steps in order, each to completion, but going through them all as fast and efficiently as possible. First contact to coffee shouldn't take more than 3 days barring extreme circumstances. Coffee to 2nd date should be another 3 days at most. I don't like things being idle and in question. Anything else you can generally assume or just ask.

This is what I look like most recently.

Through the help of the Internet and cell phones we all feel that the world is now a much smaller place, thanks to the latest communication technology. But, in spite of our fast- paced mobile society, Online dating, and high speed travel, many are facing new kinds of social challenges. It is difficult to meet new people . And when you do, it is better to verify a person's past before you make any serious emotional commitment.

It is true that internet has become an ideal instrument in today’s society for swindlers to reach the people all over the world with very little effort. Before you go any further, when meeting someone new, think about some of the facts such as: Have you just contacted an online predator, one among the con artists crawling Internet dating sites for hopeful romantics… they have victimized others by stealing their trust, hearts and their money. And what if they are after you... there are some horrible people hiding in the shadows looking to capitalize off of your hope and trust.

"No matter how many instances of white swans we see, we must never assume that all swans are white."

I refuse to become cynic just because others may do harm to me. I live my life in spite of them because they live their lives in spite of all others. It's not as clear cut as win or lose, but I won't change who I am because someone else follows no moral judgment. I still believe that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.

The sheer hypocrisy of someone who says they're 'accepting' but doesn't accept 'South Asians and Blacks' smells stinkier than a lorry load of dead rats, unfortunately.
