I'm a Kinsey 3 or 4, depending on how you measure it.

In terms of sexual attraction I am a solid 3 for two reasons. One is that I really don't care about the plumbing. I like sex, I want sex, and I don't care what kind it is. The other reason is because I'm very attracted to androgeny, and find strongly gender-typed appearances or behavior (either straight "hunks" and "babes" or gay "flamers" and "diesel dykes") completely unappealing. My perfect "10" would be someone whose gender is not easily discernable at a distance.

In practise I'm a Kinsey 4 or 5 simply because I find it easier to talk to guys and tomboys. Most of my friends are bisexual.

so... is your sense of self female?

I realise that this is going back a long way in the thread but I have referred to myself as being a male lesbian for some time and precisely for the reason of having a highly feminine sense of self, but also being highly attracted to women. My femininity most likely comes from having been brought up in such a female environment - with an often absent father - and having been so intimidated by other boys growing up that I more often developed friendships with girls. However the fact that I am basically a hetero does not mean that I have not experienced confusion, repression and guilt over the fact that I'm sexually attracted to the same gender in which I also seek kinship, support, guidance and a social identity. Not to mention how nothing turns any woman I know off more than a guy who's "sensitive" and "in touch with his feminine side." Add to this the fact that many women initiate social contact with me under the common misapprehension that I am gay - only to back off when they find out otherwise - and then you can understand why I identify so strongly with lesbians and count several as my closest friends. I can relate to questioning my sexuality, and having to accept the answer regardless of the life consequences. By that I mean I feel quite strongly that I would be more comfortable within myself if I were gay as that's the way I'm perceived anyway, by gays and homophobes alike.

Ahem...now I've got that little vent out of the way...call me...noowww......

This is a great thread because there's so much diversity! My answer is bisexual, however, that does not mean I sleep and/or am attracted to both men and women. The answer is more complicated than the label. My first sexual experiences were with another girl. All my relationships have been with men, most of whom have been both bisexual and androgynous. I have had sexual experiences with women, but it has been several years. Now that I"m in a monogamous relationship with a man, my behavior is heterosexual, but that doesn't mean my mind is...

Why is "transgendered" in the poll, when it's a poll on sexuality? Gender and sexuality are two different and usually separate things - you can be transgendered or cisgendered and heterosexual, homosexual, bisexual or asexual... kind of like "pick one option from list A and one from list B"...

Actually that's one reason i don't particularly like the terms "homosexual" and "heterosexual", since they don't just define sexuality per se, but define sexuality in a way that is only meaningful in the context of known gender... if (like me) you don't identify as any gender (well, i say i'm male cos physically i indisputably am, but mentally i don't identify with any gender) then how can you be attracted to the "same gender" or "opposite gender" to you?

For me a better poll to define sexuality would be:

- Attracted to males only
- Attracted to females only
- Attracted to both males and females
- Not attracted to either
- Other (please define)

(last one for people who, like some that have posted here, are somewhere between "straight" (or "gay") and "bisexual" in a "definitely attracted to one gender, but sort-of-maybe attracted to the other as well" or "attracted to both, but in very different ways" kind of way, or who are attracted to people according to some criterion other than gender (tho i guess in practice that would boil down to "attracted to some people of both genders")...or for anything else i haven't thought of...)

i think the words for the first 2 options would probably be "gynosexual" (covering lesbians, "straight" men, and non/other-gendered people who fancy women), and "androsexual" ("straight" women, gay" men, and any others who fancy men)...

myself, i'm physically male, null/undecided in terms of idenbtified gender, and pretty much exclusively gynosexual (thus by default in this poll i voted "heterosexual")...

I used to be straight, but now I'm gay (in other words, I used to be in denial....hehe) I dated a girl for five years back in college. When that ended, I was very relieved, as was she. We are still friends luckly! :) More recently I've been lucky enough to have found a most awesome male companion, and I'm very thankful for that every day. And my old girlfriend approves!

Bisexual. Currently in a heterosexual relationship, but I seem to go back and forth between dating men and women when I am not in a serious relationship.
