And even the people who were mentioned get insecure when they are competing for a vote or a list- remember how jwa jumped to explain that yes, she is worth calling pretty because she has all these modeling contracts after I made some generic statement about how pictures online don't always represent the real thing anyway?

No actually you were bashing the whole thread quiet consistenlty over a few posts - calling people insecure - I just felt that your whole tone was quite -ve, whilst the thread over all was +ve.

Read my post again - BTW you are so condesceding - point I was making was that getting contracts doesn't make you attractive!! ! Please read my posts properly before acussing me of going"oh I got contract offers so I am pretty". It was a comment to say people here are not being modest to get compliments - as you had suggested!

The most beautiful woman I have ever known was my grandmother - and it had nothing to do with her looks! Thinking of her even now makes me smile!

Peace man (or woman) :) . Life too short for any competitions - but I won't stop being +ve to people when they are really trying to be confident and putting themselves out there. Isn't that the whole point of WP - support each other?

Are we all aware that Daryl Hannah has been out for awhile as an aspie? The mermaid in Splash and eyepatch lady in Kill Bill?

And we know for real what she looks like, because we saw her model face and mile long legs captured in film, rather than through a heavily angled/airbrushed headshot?

Yes, she is gorgeous - cool!

Did you read the very original poster who thought that most Aspie women are not attractive? (Sorry to the original poster if I got it wrong).

Two things:
You don't know what someone looks like in real life if you have only seen them on film - ever heard of makeup artists and the number of hours they spend to make people look fab, even for natural looking scenes (she is gorgeous anyway - but plenty of actors are immensely enhanced on film)
Secondly, all the pics I saw in this post are of lovely gorgeous women - I loved Magnus's posed picie (she mentioned she copied some model) and I think sunshower had one I really liked, very artistic. Loved MeDdaGreek’s funky shot! Is it a sin if girls do a bit of playful fun - nobody here is going "I am hot vote for me"! I think you are judging every one way too harshly.

Hey all the girls who posted - I think you are gorgeous! Especially Miss Construe! :)

Tech, I don't see the entire thread as being the way I described- but a lot of it is. And some of the self-deprecatiing statements are female ploys for compliments. Understandable behavior, but not commendable.

Oh I so want to take the high road ......but I can’t as you are so condescending! I have had two modelling contracts offers from top agencies (which I turned down) ...and spent most of my life being fed up of the attention I get. In my book neither of that makes me attractive.
Personally, I feel very safe at the WP as it really is a friendly forum where you can actually relax, and be at peace with yourself. I wouldn’t even dream of posting a pic at another forum – I don’t know why you are trying to suggest that the tone is low on this sub-forum – as I think it is quite opposite – it is women being confident in themselves and not insecure.
(Apologies - if my post is coming across strong - but I think there is enough criticism of women in society in general, no matter what they do - without us starting at each other as well! )

making 2 posts on page 21 is hardly consistent. My point was that I made a broad statement about most pictures on threads where people are comparing females not being an accurate representation of reality. And then you immediately posted something about how you'd like to take the high road, and followed this by bringing up modeling contracts. If the point of bringing them up was unrelated, I apologize- I guess I missed what the point was. I still don't see how it relates to attention-fishing through self-deprecation, however.

That's great. It really is. My favorite people didn't gain my affection through looks either. But this thread hadn't even begun to touch on inner beauty, so it has nothing to do with what I was pointing out.

I strongly agree. And there is competition in this thread when it starts to become about voting certain pictures over others. It doesn't seem very supportive at all. That's why seeing it in WP made me :( . And I don't know what +ve was, but you seem to like it a lot so I'm sorry if I wasn't +ve enough by your standards.

would you really like to know why i have a complex about not being perfect, and why my self-esteem is so impossible to build up, no matter what i say to myself, what i learn or what i may accomplish? because i have very specific reasons that led to it.

aspi-rant just said that because he finds her picture "immodest' , that's why he said such crap.

As for equals_true, I don't know in what thread and in what context was that.

context doesn't make it any less rude.

How did I miss this???

First of all I am sorry if I caused any offence. In my defence context does make a differnce. I said:

Quote:
Personally I find you more attractive than *****, then again I have weird tastes. I quite like short hair on women, tendency toward darker (although more open-minded about that these days), and womanly features rather than girly or baby faced (which according to some research is not the norm). I go for interesting natural features and. What is often considered a perfect beauty I don't find attractive at all. Not because they are ugly but more there is less visually there. I guess it is the "uncanny valley" effect

It simply didn't occur to me that it would cause offence and lower self esteem, in hindsight maybe. However there are so many any things that can do just that, which would never be considered rude. Maybe they should be. This thread itself is a threat to someone's self esteem.

The person is question was getting plenty of compliments, so it was in this context that I made the remark and also in the context that some women had stated that they wouldn't post their pic because said person had.

That being said I won't make that mistake again. I will just mention the people I like the look of, although I was reluctant to do this to begin with, until that point where I thought: f**k it why not?. Forbid I actually raise someone’s self esteem.

Attraction is very personal in my opinion.
