There are a lot of jerks out there who will tell you that loving fictional characters makes you a 'nerd' or a 'loser' or any of those awful names, but I don't believe any of their arguments are substantial. What if you go out and do something for a fictional character? Don't real people benefit? If so, then why should you be discouraged?

I don't think it implies you have AS, either.

just my 2 cents.. or pence
i'm not Christian, so Jesus is a fictional character to me i guess & i'm not romantically interested.. (remember the "Jesus loves you but not enough to swallow" banners)
but i love the qualities he is written &supposed to have.. he WAS a true christian & a very respectable person.. if taken literally
but then i love the qualities of the fictional character "Goku" (Again in a hetero way) but would try & live in these ways out of respect etc..
fiction is still written by people, for instance Aldous huxley's "Brave new world" is fictional, as such, but it doesn't seem any less meaningful for it..

I think i do love a fictional character that is so unique and hard to find, and when humanity will develop faster than light drives and go to other galaxies, there is a chance that i may meet her.

on further reflection yes again! lol..
it seems most of my understanding of communication comes from fiction especially films.. seem to be the easiest to understand for me.
so i've kind of grown up in love with fictional characters, but still confused by them as they're aren't too many aspie/autie characters & i'm not nearly as smart as the rainman.. :( Tom cruise nailed the NT 80's style.. but anyway i guess not having had any real & comprehensible relationships, i'm drawn to the fictional characters who have already "told/shown" me about themselves, so i kinda "know" them..

Man, I have the major hots for fictional characters. They always, know what to say, what to do, and what to look like. Heaven would be animated if I had it my way, and I'd always be on a quest to save some princess who eventually rocks my world.

The mystery writer Dorothy Sayers is said to have litereally fallen in love with one of her own creations- the detective Lord Peter Whimsy.

I've had many of those. You just watch them (like you do when you watch T.V.), and you can't help but have your hormones go nuts, even if it's a cartoon.
