Is it wrong for me, a new member, to just blurt out what I am really interested in:

are there any single, artistic, aspie-sympathetic girls in Austin Texas who happen to be reading this?

If so, well, please let's email. I am a frustrated fool, driving in circles. I have a good job. I have made some artistic accomplishments. Batches of bizarre folk songs, a collection of unique poetry. I have an obsessive music collection. Currently, 1975-79 period Tom Waits, McCoy Tyner, Leo Kottke, John Darnielle, Matt Kadane.

I find it impossible to meet girls. I work with girls, but mixing work world/private world makes me nervous. I'm not currently in school, so that venue is closed.

In the past, I have relied on luck and/or sibling set-ups with new people. Nothing is panning out.

Anyway, I'm no different than any other hopeless romantic here, except that I am narrowing the query to my geographical area!

Austin, Texas, anyone?

I'm sort of artistic but already taken, and I think I'm just about the only aspie girl in Austin.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! ! Ha-ah. Thanks for replying though!

I actually do meet girls, it's just that I never meet the inward wayward type.

Anyone else?

San Antonio isn't that far, either.

Actually, only a few weeks.

The strange thing is that I transferred to Texas State-San Marcos because there weren't any female Aspies in Wichita Falls, where I had previously attended school.

Wichita Falls is 100 miles northwest of Dallas-Fort Worth, and 130 miles southwest of Oklahoma City.

These areas can be black holes for finding sweetly eccentric people. San Marcos has a lot of potential, as does Austin. College towns.

HAha
BTW FYI there are a lot a eccentric girls in Austin and more arrive every day also there are lots of aspies here.
maybe you just need to be more confident and ballsy
I am pretty skilled at picking up girls but I still can't stand to spend enough time with anyone to develope a relationship muchless anything else. All the aspie girls I've met run away when you try to talk to them and the NT girls annoy the hell out of me. Luck for me I would rather be alone. True I get lonely but then all I have to think about is the hell that is having a girlfriend stealing all my alone time and sufficating me with her feelings.
So I would suggest getting over it. Or you could medicate yourself retarted and join the NT race.

Wrong, there's many aspie women and aspies in general in Austin = )

Especially North Austin....I've met Aspies everywhere in central Texas it's insane...

Austin is absolutely teeming with AS females--at Dell and the other tech industry companies, at the University of Texas, etc. I know at least 4 personally, but only one of them is single and you're too young for her...

There's a Meet-up group for adult Aspies in Austin, but I don't know how many of the members are girls. http://aspergers.meetup.com/348/

The main issue I have with Austin is that people drive like idiots, especially on I-35. I went with the urban planning club at my university to the open house for the MetroRail (which still isn't up and running yet), and coming back, the traffic was unbelievable. It's worse than Dallas-Ft. Worth.

When I feel the need to go to the big city, I would exit on William Cannon, and take South Congress up to Downtown. But more often than not, I usually just go to San Antonio.

I am willing to do long-distance relationships, so it isn't really imperative that they live in the area. Besides, I am more concerned as to whether they have the same interests, and religious and political beliefs as me. My interests are the Simpsons, South Park, and indie/foreign films. I am a Christian, and I vote Republican. And with graduation less than 5 months away, I may be moving out of the area.

However, finding someone who is Christian and votes Republican, and has interests that are synonymous with "artsy hipsters", is impossible. Those two things cause major conflict. Christians/Republicans think I'm the Antichrist because of my interests, and artsy hipsters think I'm a bigot because I'm a Christian and vote Republican.

In addition to the above-mentioned interests, she must also like to travel, and do various outdoor activities. I am officially undecided as to whether I want to start a family, but as far as sex goes, I can't date someone who is asexual, intending to wait until marriage, or thinks that it should only be for procreation.

Lots of aspies here but probably hard to meet them if you're not social (and they're not social). The meetups have mostly elderly members, overall.

I disagree with that... I'm not elderly, nor were the people I met. How old is elderly? 35?

You single guys in the Austin area should try to make plans to meet up, maybe? It could never hurt to make potential new friends........You might even be able to play wingman for each other.
