bonjour everyone!
I'm jessica,16 from scotland.
before my diagnosis I felt like a monster.like something was really wrong with me.
I got my diagnosis around my 12th birthday due to my little brothers previous diagnosis raising superstitions.
my teenage years have frankly been utter hell....
in my first year at secondary school I was bullied mercilessly for my looks and devolped a borderline eating disorder.
I lost my friends in high school, started trying to strangle myself among other things before ending up in a psychiatric ward for teens ages away from my family in London...I'm Scottish so you can imagine how insane a situation it was.The nurses didnt believe my diagnosis as I was'nt a rain man stereotype and I was left to my own devices.I come home and was in one here too.
through it all i saw things that have scared me to this day and things that have made me realise the fragility yet beauty of the human spirit.
the thing in the end which has frankly saved my life is music.my favourite bands most noticeably joy division helped me realise that i need to do something musical with my life. After hospital I went through two years of purgatory.i avoided going to school and my ability to cope with school and life outside my door deteriorated. There were a few people who helped me through this terrible period such a friends I gained through myspace such as a friend called emma whose become a bff practically!
i just finished my standard grade exams and left school for college to do my highers..
for the first time in my life things are looking up.
I have a few friends, i'm going to college to do what I want and i'm learning instruments.
I believe my real life has finally begun...
i think although being an aspie teen is terrible you can get through it.

Hello Everyone

My name is Marco, and i have been diagnosed with a mild from of Aspergers since 2000.

I came across this website when i was doing some research on the condition i have and i have been looking at these forums for a few moths now. at first i thought they were not that many people for whom i talk about my condition with but after seeing a few posts from people all around the world i know I'm not alone

I am 25 and gonna turn 26 soon. i am currently finishing up my bachelors degree in computer engineering in which i will be finishing in about 2 years. i enjoy engineering very much and it was something i came across by random occurrence.

I live in central Canada and have been born and raised here ever since. I speak English, French, Italian, Japanese and a little Chinese. I enjoy traveling weather it be across town or across the ocean. i have been to Europe and the USA many times and i wish to go to Asia someday.

I have profound interest in Japanese culture, interested and knowledgeable about about cars from all around the world, i have a large DVD collection of all my favorite films and TV shows, I am also an avid video game player, I am interested in technology and new advancements in it, I also like green technology and sustainability, I'm a huge fan of James Bond, Ninja Turtles, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and Metal Gear Solid, I enjoy every kind music but my preferences are Reggae, R&B, Jazz, and Classic Metal, i also like to fix computers and making them run as good as new, I love Japanese make cars especially Honda, Toyota, and Nissan, I like to go to the gym and stay healthy, I also like to read books on science fiction and science.

I have many friends and those close to me are whom i treasure the most. I am single and i have had relationships in the past but they would only last very briefly and would end leaving me emotionally wounded. but i remain confidant that i will find my special someone and that they will love me just as much as i love them

I am now at a point where i am trying to understand myself and the condition that i have and wanting to make an effort to become a better person for myself and those around me i hope by channeling my thoughts, experiences and everything into this forum i will have abetter understanding of myself and the world around me

Thank you

Accidentally found this website, about a year ago, while trying to learn more about Asperger's Syndrome.
My son, who is 22 probably has AS; but, I have never seen any documented findings from any medical professional. He has lived with his mother, and younger brother, since he was nine years old due to our divorce in 1996. His mother, by the way, had numerous experiences with Psychiatrists, mental hospitals, depression, and it's associated medical treatments. He was at first diagnosed as being depressed--at the age of 7. At least that's what her Psychiatrist "said" he was. He, and his four year old brother, was prescribed zoloft. Years later, his mother said he may have a mild form of autism called Asperger's Syndrome.
Without going into more of the history of this sorry matter. I, as his father, want to know more about AS to include:
1. What can I do?
2. What can I not do?
3. What should I expect?
4. Is there a point that things for him will be "as good as it gets"?

I know that you don't know his background or experiences. But if there is anyone who would share similar-type experiences, at least I would have some knowledge, when I'm in a similar situation.

Thank you.

Hi everyone :)

My name's Rachel, I joined today. I was diagnosed with Asperger's when I was 13, however I was diagnosed with autism at age 3 and me & my family have always known I am at the Asperger's end of the spectrum. I am now 14 and I live with my parents, older sister and 2 very loveable dogs in England.

In a few days, I'm going into Year 10 at my school. I am taking GCSEs in Drama, Classics, History and French along with the compulsory subjects. I am taking thirteen GCSEs in total and I still haven't got a clue what I want to do when I'm older.

I play piano (not very well) and am taking my Grade One music exam sometime in December. I like to read- I love the Harry Potter series, the Twilight saga, the Noughts and Crosses books by Mallorie Blackman, the Adrian Mole diaries and the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. I am absolutely terrible at all sports and detest watching and playing them.

My favourite genre of music is rock and I have many favourite bands. I hate r'n'b, rap and pop. I like almost every genre of films, though- romance, comedy, scary, whatever- and have too many favourite films to list. In fact, after pretty much film I see my brain adds it to my favourite films list!

My favourite TV programmes are Shaun the Sheep, Fairly Odd Parents, The X Factor, Britain's Got Talent, Waterloo Road, Beauty and the Geek and Harry Hill's TV Burp. I also like games- when I'm on the computer I'm always on Tetris, and I like playing on my DSi, my Wii and my PS2. Some of my favourite games are Animal Crossing, Nintendogs, The Sims and Guitar Hero. I'm not particularly good at any of them though, I can only do Guitar Hero on easy :P

That's me, pretty much. It was nice to (sort of) meet you all :D

Lo and behold, an undiagnosed aspie?

Last week I took 3 Aspie tests on my own accord and got "VERY LIKELY ASPIE" on all 3 of them. Does that mean I "passed with flying colors"? I knew I was somewhat cracked, but Asperger's? This was completely unexpected. Why didn't one of my therapists over the last 20 years suggest anything to me about the possibility?

Anyway, after moping around about the results for a couple day, I guess I found some sense of acceptance, because actually it all seems to make sense. OK, so I'm a fairly "high functioning" Aspie -- successful at my vocation; engaged to be married; lots of good thing... but something's definitely not "right" with me... I've talked to my therapist about it today, and we'll continue working on this. But I just thought I'd jump into the Forum and say hello...

Special GREETINGS to all Aspies who cherish JOY DIVISION as much as I do.

:D

Sincerely,

Lottie and Tinker's father

They didn't know about it twenty years ago. Would have been nice if I'd known too.

not sure if i posted here yet, so.

i'm dina, my nickname. i have kingdom hearts obsession with a branching xemnas obsession that seems to be taking on a life of it's own. i live in the fantasy not reality, i have had a story in my head for about 9 years now. i have 43 characters for the story that are mine.

other then that i was diagnosed when i was 17 at the time i thought AS was level with crazy. i have one cat that is mine named kirby. i make sims, do art, video, and writing all from trial and error. my art is still crap though.

i have allergies and a suppressed appetite i'm also on multiple pills for sleep as i cannot sleep on my own. i can't think of anything else right now.

oh xemnas lives in my subconscious, he has his own house up there, and i love to do skits for the heck of it.

xemnas: no kidding.
what skits are fun.
xemnas:

I hear you Robert -- but I've been going to therapy for almost 20 years, including this year, last year, etc. Didn't hear ONE WORD about the possibility of having Aspergers from any therapist I've gone to over the years.

I started investigating the possibility that I might have Aspergers when -- just for "fun" -- I thought I'd take a self-diagnostic Aspie Quiz; to my alarm I scored REALLY high. In fact, the questions were almost laughable because for so long I've known all along that I have some abnormal reactions / behaviors, but I've never seen these characteristics set down on paper; certainly not in the form of 100 - 200 questions or whatever. Then I took another test, and another, and all the results are the same. It is "VERY LIKELY" that I have some form of Asperbergers.

Yesterday, on the most recent AQ test I took (Simon Baron-Cohen's Autism-Spectrum Quotient) I got 43 out of 50; the comparable for that test is that 80% of those with Autism or a related disorder scored *32* or higher.

Anyway, I'm learning more about Aspergers; my fiancee has been really supportive. In fact, she's been "relieved" (her words) because she now understanding that I'm not actually *trying* to get so agitated by relatively "normal" events. And my new therapist is REALLY interested in helping me -- and her -- learn how to deal with this.

Hopefully I'll have something positive to contribute to the forum through my experiences.

My name is Morgan, I have an incredablely mild case of autism, although I'm not sure if it's Aspergers or not. I'm 22 and will be 23 soon, I love people and history, studying languages, reading poems in Russian. I speak Russian and Spanish as other languages making English my first. I'm a Libra and my venus is in Scorpio. lol

I love chihuahuas and hope to own one someday. I love cats too, my dad is a total cat person, whereas my mom is allergic to cats. I have one sister named Erin, she's 20 she's not like me at all lets just say. I'm glad to be here and if anyone has any more questions to ask don't heistate to ask.

Hello. I'm Jay, new here, won't be very active but I'll do what I can. Wish I could skip the 5 day have-to-wait before using links period so I could create a topic I want to. But anyways, I'm altruistic, am ironically part of my school's speech and debate team, and am dedicated in fixing problems with myself.

That should suffice for the time being.
