I am 21 and, when considering the general subject of 'girls', I observed that it seems to be that younger teenage girls (say 16-17) are attracted to me, while girls my own age are apparently not.

Does anyone know why this should be so, or has anyone else indeed found the same thing?

My own theory is that it is easier to read the signals of teenage girls, whose giggling friends will happily form a delegation and elaborate quite frankly who is interested/ interrogate their chosen target further.

This has happened to me on numerous occasions, leading to me being somewhat embarrassingly wary - if not petrified! - of groups of teenage girls.

However, I probably flatter myself in thinking that girls my own age must also be in a more subtle way expressing the same sentiments!

Comments welcome.

Yeah, for me it's always been women in their 40's for some reason. Older women just love me. It's annoying.

i think that phenomenon is very common, as girls reach puberty younger on average and *arguably* hit some social and emotional milestones before their male peers. so some of them identify with, and are attracted to, older boys. if it's legal in your country, why not go for it?

Younger girls tend to be attracted to guys least a few years older than em maybe because they are frustrated with boys in their high-school classes & they think older guys are cooler because they are at a higher place at their lives. The only girls who are attracted to me are young teen girls

Its because younger girls think an older guy is "cool" and makes them seem "mature" nothing else.

If, god forbid, any guy wishes to make a thread outlining their concern about not having a girlfriend then let the above link be a reminder that they have time on their side!

Back OT, I think the reason for this phenomenon is simply due to guys growing up more slowly than girls on average. If a girl is 15, and technically old enough to be a mother, then she needs to have the emotional maturity in place sooner than a male of the same age. I might be wrong

The maturity thing would make sense in a way but in a way not. A lot of the younger girls I see going after older guys are very immature. I think they see the guy as kinda a father figure. In the case of Aspies thou; we tend to mature at different rates than people our own age so it may be that the younger girls are more on the same level in some ways as us.
I don't think that article applies to me because I have really cr@ppy genes. I am much less of a success in life because of disabilities. I am a lot less mature than people my age party because of that & teen girls are more on my maturity level in some ways than women who are closer to my age especially when it comes to my interest; I listen to pop music, watch iCarly; I probably have a Peter-Pan complex. It could be the father figure thing with me to thou because I like listening to em talk about high-school drama, issues with their family & stuff & I talk about my past experiences & try to help em analyze things from different angles. Or it may be the way I talk about Miranda Cosgrove on fan sites; they think it's really sweet

Cheer up. If 40 year old's still go for you when you are 60 then you will come out ahead.

I wish the women I attracted had to do with their age. I attract self-centred narcissists.

-aren't all narcissists self-centered ?
-unless you're doing the ultra precise 'phallic' vs 'closet' narcissist definition.

I don't have this problem. Regardless of age, no woman is attracted to me.
