This is not a topic I would normally talk about. However, I felt a certain inspiration to create a thread about fashion after seeing someone walking around with a hideous monstrosity upon their head. Politely, I even had the restraint to not laugh at them, I asked what was on that persons head. Person with grotesque fashion statement told me it was called a spirit hood. If I posted a picture you would probably think that I was joking. This is serious, click here to see spirit hoods.

Yes, humanity must be destroyed. But it's time to add a love & dating context to this.

Fashion/style is more important in the love and dating arena than some of us would like to admit. It is rather a mystery to me, all I do is keep my hygiene in good shape, I know nothing about fads or what is fashionable. I saw that spirit hood and cringed at the thought that something like that would actually be considered fashionable. Those hoods make me want to get a hunting rifle, act like it's hunting season, and mount heads on my wall. If that can be fashionable then, I just don't get fashion.

Maybe some of you do. Here is the place to discuss/complain about fashion/style.

I actually remember the Spirit Hoods being shown on Conan.

Would I wear one, no, but I don't think they're that horrible. It's like any other fashion fad.

People into fashion tend to get a bit silly... all the time. I prefer to stick to decent jeans or cargo pants and a t-shirt or somewhat feminine blouse.

I have a sense of style, but am definitely not into fashion.

I must have railed too much on those dead animal toupees. Anyway, the L & D context...

Is fashion/style more important for men or women? My first instinct is that it is more important for men, because women seemingly care about style more. But upon further thought I'm not entirely sure.

Does the impact of fashion/style change if you are gay?

Distinctions between style and fashion?

Are people who say they don't care about style/fashion hypocrites?

Plenty of potential conversations here.

I have no idea, but it's of little importance to me.

Not as far as I've noticed.

Distinctions between style and fashion?

Fashion is something that is a fad right then. A style is a certain way of dressing. People can have their own personal style, or they can follow a pre-determined style that is often dictated by fashion.

Are people who say they don't care about style/fashion hypocrites?

Why would this make someone a hypocrite?

Pointy boots FTW! ;)

Style and fashion are not the same thing. Everyone has their own style even if it is very unfashionable. ;)

I have heard this many times, so the sample size I am basing this statement off of isn't small. Based off of my obnoxiously keen powers of observation, whenever somebody says they don't care about style I take a look at their significant other if they have one. Without an exception their significant others have the same f*****g style every time. I guess you could call it a sort of deliberate attempt to have a style that is unfashionable, usually in a nerd chic kind of way. If these people really didn't care about it, then there SOs wouldn't all have the same style. Picking someone based on lack of style is still picking someone based on their style. Therefore, hypocritical statement.

Casual for me: Cargo pants/shorts and a blank or strange T-shirt.
Fancy: A dress shirt and cargo pants. :P

I prefer wearing mostly black. I don't really feel comfortable wearing colors except for a red, gray or white shirt once in a while. I love wearing funky knee high socks, tons of mostly homemade jewelry, velvet skirts, ballet flats. I definitely have a unique style that usually either gets made fun of or I get accused of looking like a "poser" or trying to look "goth", or "what are you all dressed up for?". It's just what I feel comfortable wearing!

All three of these brands are fast-fashion brands. They are hip, and while they change often, their prices are within reach of most consumers out there that you can change with the seasons - even if you don't, most of them still look great even after trends have moved onto another style. This was an example of Zara's collection not too long ago. The center-middle outfit for example included something like a pea-coat, a belt, pants, and cardigan-shirt and shoes - for under 350. That outfit would cost you many times that from most retailers who sell that style, so that is a bargain.

BTW, if it were up to me, my wardrobe would only have zara and some uniqlo but i'm not rich, so uniqlo makes up most of my clothes, H&M gives me a few basics, and most of my formal / dress / work clothes are from Zara.

I really like them, I saw some of those in the style of some kind of wild cat in a fairtade shop in Canterbury and I very nearly bought one, I think they're coooool.
I don't think they look very good on men though. 8O

edit: wait why don't they do monkey-ish ones?
