For those of you who are still single, do you want to be in relationship or are you happy being single?

Of course! But...

I'm Aspie,
and I'm a man.

That's like a death-sentence for one's love life.

I can't win.
Never have.

I don't care either way... When I have too much work I just want to be left alone... I am trying to tell myself I don't need a relationship...

More likely than not I'll be single for the rest of my life. Luckily I'm asexual so I am ok with it.

I want to be in a relationship, but strictly for practical reasons. Namely, I want to have a guaranteed date for events and a guaranteed travel partner for vacations. It's looked down upon to come by yourself to, say, the holiday party at your employer. When it comes to vacations, going alone is lonely and boring; plus, you have to pay a single supplement fee whenever you're staying in a resort hotel or going on a cruise by yourself (cf. that pesky double occupancy rate).

Obviously, if I'll be in a relationship, there'll be sex. But sex isn't anywhere near as big a priority for me as it was five years ago. I can pay an escort if I get too "hungry". So it's mostly about having a partner for events and vacations. (Escorts do vacations too, but their rates run into thousands if they travel with you; very expensive and inefficient.) And for an aspie whose social skills are slim to bupkus, it's way more efficient to start a long-term relationship where a date is a phone call away, as opposed to get into panic mode, scrambling to find a date, each time there's an event that requires one.

if the person of my dreams took a major shine to me, i'd drop everything to be with them. as long as they were within driving distance.

Voted don't care. I'm happy single, but wouldn't say no if the right person came along.

I don't think one truly "wants" a relationship thats just a socal status. They want a person to share time and space with and wear out the springs on a matress or scar people for life with visions of their naked flesh humping away in the supermarket car park at 3am.

That's kinda different. You can have a relationship with anyone and it isn't neccesarily going to be much fun with some people.

I would like one. But who am I kidding? Nearly 29 years old, and never had a relationship in my life. Never kissed a girl or done anything of the sort. My odds are not looking good. Even for a male Aspie, I am hopelessly behind.

I very strongly desire a relationship but I sort of accepted that the dating scene is impossible for me

However my past experience has shown i am attracted to cruel people who tend to abuse me. I hope i choose better next time.

Happy to be single, but wouldn't say no to something promising.
