Brian:
I'm a British male, from Scotland. I know you were looking more for a female but I wanted to say hello and welcome. I truly hope the replies of the other British respondents don't reflect the true character of the British people.
UK respondents in this thread:
I apologise in advance for any offence I cause but I've got to take a stand and say something, because something is not right. Rejecting Brian is, of course, completely your prerogative and your God given right. The thing is, what's with the need to make such a big song and dance about doing so? I'm sure he meant well, he's just looking to talk to UK people with, I'd like to think, no ulterior motive. Seriously, what's wrong with you people? You are behaving as a pack mentality by ganging up on him, which there is no need for.
I mean, he's interested in the UK, and the message here is basically like the UK is telling him to F off. Like he's being told to F off on behalf of the British people. Is this the way we are supposed to express Britishness to an American, or a national of any country? Is this the character of the British people and is this how British people treat people? You should be ashamed of yourselves, just as it's no wonder I'm ashamed to be British, and I know if I was in Brian's shoes my impression of the UK would quite rightly deteriorate compared to before.
