It isn't. When most people try to act sexy it just looks stupid imo.

For me it's the passion the dancer exudes that's sexy. The movements themselves are visually appealing, but without that passion the whole experience is lost on me.

That's very true.

I don't find dancing sexy. Never have. It could be me though.

There's an episode of "That 70s Show" where all the kids are planning on going to a disco the next town over. Red says something like "Girls love to dance. It let's them be sexy in a safe environment."

I have always thought this is a pretty good explanation.

As an art form, I personally don't find dance as appealing as music or poetry or sculpture. But as an esthetic form of expression, I can see the charm in it.

As to why it's sexy ... do most people really think that? I'd be interested to see how many people in the world actually think it's sexy, as opposed to simply being visually appealing. I don't think anyone would deny that the graceful movement of lithe, athletic bodies is lovely. But so is the Mona Lisa. Do men get hot over her?

I thought I was the only one who didn't "get" dancing from a sexy standpoint... even in a strip club I like the girls just as much standing around as I do when they're dancing - but I suppose they have to do something besides just stand there.

*Why dancing is sexy....because the gross dancing I am guessing mimics something and the other dancing shows a person's physical abilities to be flexible, coordinated, etc

*Being a good dancer, do NOT judge it from DDR, that just shows feet-eye coordination, there are many types of dancing, and they require more than just your feet

*Aspies being good or bad at dancing...well I know my feet aren't coordinated, but I was given the best dancer moves in a group of girls, and I've been in a few dance-offs because I can be creative with my arms and sometimes my hips or head but it really just depends

*Do I like dancing, heck ya! In front of people, only if they are, and only if I know them pretty good or don't know them at all.

Actually, I have a funny/awkward dancing story:

I was at a church dance, it was a stake one, so a lot of kids from my school went there. At that time, I felt like I was a pretty good dancer. I was feeling what-the-heck-ish and there weren't a lot of people I knew there....and there was a dance competition. A group of around 30-40 kids gathered at the front and started dancing to the music...if your shoulder was tapped, you stayed up in the area. Mine was, and there were about 15-20 kids left. They did a new song, and this kid who is in the competition comes up to me and asks me to dance. Let me tell you...I am WAY better at freestyle than with other people. But, I wanted to be nice, so I said yes. Things were actually going good, and we were dancing....and then he backs away from me. So, I'm left there for a split second, wondering what to do, then he say:

"Jump into my arms" He must've 10, 20 pounds lighter and at lest 3-4 inches shorter....and he

wanted ME to jump into HIS arms....I didn't feel like squishing him. I said I can't, and he insisted....but I said no again. He danced away, and I didn't get tapped...so I had to leave the competition....haha, the next day I spot him walking with one of my friends......awkward.

I agree that, intellectually, it seems like meaningless random bodily gyrations but the other side of my mind finds something appealing about it, even though I personally don't like to dance in a group atmosphere (Even though I've done it once at someone else's request.).

Give you a clue. Look at these men dance.
