Also do we need to keep going on about this thread?, op had misconceptions about as we cleared them on page 1 and somehow the thread has remained for several pages explaining something that was already explained on page 1

well, he seems to still be misunderstanding, as evidenced by his most recent posts on the thread. so members will likely keep on explaining it to him.

I think he needs to understand that their are female aspies in the world.

Hyperlexian pleas do something about AspieRogue he keeps making anti-semite comments and attacks on religious aspies :x

yes i will go look into that, thanks for the heads-up. but can you take the personal insult out what you just wrote? you're attacking the OP personally by calling him that. thank you!

I guess what I was trying to say is that enough evidence has already been provided to prove OP´s misconception. OP refuses to address this evidence for several pages. Is there a point on providing more evidence that he is wrong if he wont read what you post?.

because people aren't always posting just to convince the OP of something. sometimes members want to debate their opinion with others, sometimes they want to want to convince fence-sitters to agree, sometimes they want to express themselves in more than one way, or for other reasons too.

we don't really know if he is reading the opinions, but if he does then perhaps he can at least better understand the impact of the language or content of his posts, even if he doesn't agree.

you could just as easily ask why people are arguing for 26 pages about abortion in PPR, or about Autism Speaks in Autism Politics, Activism, and Media Representation. there are many reasons, and as long as the discussion remains civil there is really no reason to discourage it.

Online it seems about 50/50 but I've never knowingly met a female aspie in person. They probably aren't much like me so I can't spot them. I'm curious about it.

You are more than free to discuss things with him, this is going to be my last post here though.

I dont have an issue with threads at PPR because they are usually a debate between several people with different opinions. The thread about Autism Speaks is being an open discussion where tambourine_man is trying to listen to what others are trying to say so I dont have an issue with it.

I just find this thread to close to mobbing due because some recent experiences have made me a little over sensitive about it.

All this reminds me of how Baron-Cohen's Theory of autism was criticized when it came out...

What?? boys not being inferior in systemizing for instance... 8O

OFC Females can have male brains and vice versa, that got him out of trouble

Anyway I was not referring to that when saying, "I never met an aspie girl", but just to reality.

But I guess, there are as many girls as boys with Asperger's. Only issue facing stats is girls being underdiagnosed, right? Let's say 50/50 is PC.

I wonder if all aspie males would be out to bite me If I doubted their existence...I think they wouldn't care or they would doubt too :lmao: .

it is like mobbing, sure. but i don't see the problem with it. if a member creates a thread that criticises and/or generalises about an entire group, they can expect to be mobbed by that group.

it's a bit of a learning curve - WP is not a diary where our thoughts are private. so if we muse on other people in a way that calls their diagnosis into question, it is a reasonable expectation that the people targeted will be quite upset by it. a closer example could be the raging debates over self-diagnosis vs. formal diagnosis in GAD. this thread is quite a mild situation in comparison to those threads.

this conversation would be better served behind-the-scenes, as we have possibly derailed the thread.

Catperson, i do not think the percentage split is 50/50, but we do exist nonetheless. i think men would be equally upset, but why do you feel it is necessary to divide your assumptions along gender lines regardless?

Well if that's what you're after you're definitely going the wrong way about it.
