Autism and most other mental disorders are based on more than one gene. With Mendelian(dominant-recessive) genetics, either the dominant or recessive trait is expressed. Mendelian inheritance doesn't occur in a spectrum of severity like autism does. Diseases with Mendelian genetics patterns include Huntington's disease and some types of dwarfism, but not autism. Not much is known about what genes cause autism except for the fact that it is based on multiple genes.
@OP-It's not fair to assume that you will have only NT kids because you will have an NT wife. Autistic children are born to parents that are both NT all the time. You are more likely to have children with AS than parents who are both NT. If you want to have kids, you should be able to love and accept them for who they are, NT or on the spectrum.
