I wouldn't mind mildly left wing, or right wing (like the old Right or the Buchanan right), but some ideologies that pushes forces and coercion, that would be off the menu. Some of the socialist left would be fine , but I would have to cherry pick.

I love dating liberals, it really messes with their heads when I can flank to their left on things like the law, civil liberties, and social justice, but then cut them off at the knees on economics, guns, and ethics. It's actually really funny, sometimes I can nearly see the gears turning in their heads: "people with those opinions aren't supposed to be smart and funny and kind...". I rather relish my role in demolishing stereotypes, so politics don't even enter the equation for me when looking for a date.

I couldn't, if they were radical about their stances, but even then, no. Don't want to take chances. Plus, I just got finished arguing with people over my take on the gun control debate. So, yeah...

Very interesting.

Sometimes people who follow a cause which is perceived as kind, such as animal rights, aren't necessarily always kind people themselves. I've met people with very extreme political beliefs who have been sweet and kind, especially when not discussing said beliefs.

For me, I think the extent that the other person wants to convert you to their way of thinking is important. Understanding yes, but going all the way and becoming a fellow acolyte of whatever, no.

I wouldn't date: racists; the religious; women who love the European Union; Britain-haters/no borders types, people who like authoritarianism/totalitarianism/anti-democratic ideologies, those that have a politically vindictive streak (so no, I'm not interested in you if you think the unemployed should eat coal), 'progressives'/cultural relativists, anyone with a political ideology that's too weird.

Other than that, I'm fairly open minded.
