I have a crush on my art instructor and I'm not sure how to handle it.

Her: Mid/late twenties, has a master's degree and is a single mom with two young daughters.
Me: College student, 21 years old, works at Walmart unloading trucks. No kids, never been in a relationship.

I don't know how to handle this. She won't be my teacher for much longer... Should I act on my feelings and ask her on a date once that barrier is down? I mean, I'm just worried about the age gap. The generation gap not so much- I feel disconnected from my own generation anyway, and in many ways I can relate to her.

What do I do? How should I approach this?

It's not uncommon to develop a crush on a teacher, but chances are that outside the professional relationship she doesn't think about you at all. That's how it usually is. If you're curious, you could always invite her out for a coffee (ostensibly to discuss some area of your work on which you think you could do with further advice) and see how you get on together. You never know, some spark might develop.

But by and large, I'd put this one in the box labelled 'enjoyable fantasies'.
