I'm a neurotypical 22yo girl and I've been talking to a wonderful guy online 21yo who has told me that he has Asperger's. Not a problem at all. It just has me asking some questions. I have family members & friends with ADHD/ADD and autism but Asperger's is a little new to me, so please forgive my ignorance. You'll probably see more posts from me in the future. :)

This guy and I have developed a friendship through correspondence and have talked some about meeting. So, what is an ideal good first date for a guy with AS? Does it simply depend on the person? Any guidelines I should have when planning to and hanging out?

Try doing something related to his interests/hobbies.

Taking a stroll through the park is one of my personal faves.

Here's the thing, and I didn't come up with this, but:

If you've met one aspie....
You've met one aspie.

We're all very different people, after all, just like everyone else.
Do something with him you think both of you would enjoy.

Personally, I like a good conversation and maybe some liquid (with or without ethanol) and/or solid refreshment of some sort.
After that, well, that all depends on how it goes...

The only real guidelines are to just be honest and be yourself.
He's just a guy, after all, that you're friends with and seem to want to be romantic with.
If he's an aspie, he might be quirky in various ways, but he's mostly just a person, so treat him that way.

Welcome to WP! :D

It really depends on the person. There is no such thing like a manual as they are all different. But, when I was that age I preferred going to bars with my friends where they played some decent music like Genesis or PinkFloyd. :D Dancing was never my thing.

Enjoy your date!
