I would think like anything in life you're not entitled to anything especially if you abuse or misuse that privilage.. as this person clearly did. You are in this society allowed to date or love whoever you damn well please but you're not entitled to have that person reciprocate those desires.

This is the "Ohm's Law" of it. You can do anything, but so can other people, and there are consequences for the things we do. There is a reward structure that incorporates how other people will treat you and how the law will treat you, based on what you do, and the same for other people. From this emerges a set of rules for how we are directed to behave.

One of those rules is that you can date anybody with legal capacity for consent, but they have to want to date you too. There is no reward for focusing on anyone who doesn't want to date you.
