Has a guy ever got angry when you took his parking spot? This Boxing Day an angry man swore at me and went completely berserk over such a triviality.

I remember a long time ago some woman with her kid in the front seat, tried to run me over after I took "her" parking spot.

That's the natural order of things: your territory is what you can defend as such by force.

In the Stone Age, sure. But not in the modern world. Highly paid CEOs, politicians, fixers and engineers aren't especally physically strong most of the time

It's not that, it's that they are richer and have more power.

some possibilities-
* they are provided for/protected by family or other influential sorts
*they are superficially stupid but smart as savants concerning money and power
*they got rich by dumb luck but eventually are parted from their riches due to their general dumbth.

my money is on the first two possibilities.

Yeah but still I wouldn't call it a mental/psychological superiority.

Yeah but still I wouldn't call it a mental/psychological superiority.

would you ascribe it to luck then?

Some people manage to get under someone's wing, some people do illegal things, some people are good at making money. The mere fact that they are good at it doesn't meant that they are "mentally superior". Is this an American way of thinking?

don't know if it is specifically American but it is THIS American's way of thinking, for better or worse- if somebody is better at maths than I am, I must conclude that the maths functioning of his/her brain is superior to mine, hence s/he is mentally superior in that respect, to me.

If someone is better at maths it means that he's better at maths, not that he's mentally superior.

If someone is better at maths it means that he's better at maths, not that he's mentally superior.

all I know is what it says in "Desiderata" -
"If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself."
