So I am nearing six months as an ALT thus far. Slowly getting better with teaching and the language, however unlike all my fellow ALTs, I have yet to make any friends my age much less a girlfriend. Granted, I am living out in the country and all the young people are in the cities. The company I am contracted through is kinda crappy, but I DID make JET and did well with my interview,so I think my chances to getting a better paid, better supported position are higher and I would be moving again. I don't know where though. It's very awkward being 28, heading to 29, still a virgin, still dealing with Dad's passing and also just loneliness of not being at home. I get by by projects, but largely... I just don't know how people meet people, particularly in another country...

Does anyone know how to meet people?

Would you please tell us what ALT and JET mean.

ALT is Assistant Language Teacher
And JET is Japanese Exchange Teacher.
I teach English language to kids in Japan, which is becoming a governmental priority now, due to the 2020 Olympics coming to Tokyo.

Thanks very much for that info.

To me, it would be hard to get used to the food there.

And you have to get used to the address format in the Tokyo area.

Where are you in Japan?

Sapporo is a nice city; it gets cold there, though. They had the 1972 Winter Olympics, and a more recent Winter Olympics as well.

Look at the bright side. You get to live in a really cool country and have a really cool job. Would it be possible for you to transfer to a teaching position in a large city?

Yep...you get lots more snow than Tokyo, and about as much as New York City.

TT v2.0, you've lost half half heart. Have you been damaged?

Ouch. I hope you weren't programmed to feel pain.
