I just wanted to know how to do you show someone interest when your extremely shy and quiet? I'm very talkative at home but when I'm at school my mind just goes blank and I have nothing to say. I'm able to talk at school but not the way I want to and not as much as I'd like. I'm monotone most of the time when I'm around people I don't know that well. I never feel like myself. It's really bringing down my confidence and I'm not sure how to handle this. I can communicate perfectly fine at home and with a couple of my friends and all my family members. What should I do about it? How do I show interest and get someone to notice me?

I have social anxiety, and don't have much interest in other people, so I am not sure I can be super helpful...

Are you just wanting to have people to talk to in class? Or is there someone you have an interest in?

I think that if you just want to talk to people you can use the class work as a reason to communicate. Offer to show your notes, or ask about an assignment. If people are discussing something after class maybe observe/listen, and try to communicate the same way another time?

If you want to talk to a specific person look for something that stands out? Like their style, or something they carry with them.

I'm not a social pro, but I want to be helpful. :o

Just say something. If you say nothing, they will think you are not interested - I do anyway. Even if you just tell them you are shy, a person will understand that better than saying nothing.

And try to make some eye contact and a smile. A smile goes a long way.

The way to show interest in a guy is to, at least, seem interested in what he has to say, and to laugh at his jokes.

Yup, a smile is good makes you approachable rather than putting up a wall.

I don't think you know what it's like to have a blank mind in social situations though. I know that feeling. There are literally no thoughts. Nothing. You can't say anything because there's nothing there. No words.

Seems like you have social phobia, anxiety.

Go to therapists and perhaps medication will help you.

Talking about my special interests is what made me socially phobic. I was never allowed to talk about them and when I did, I got in trouble for it.
