A girl im really fond of in my department has stopped dating someone within the sales department .The relationship lasted around a year and they broke up recently.
i regret not asking her out sooner as we both started the job the same day as each other. I have always wanted to be with her but did not communicate it.
It is really common for people to date in my company and i am not worried about any implications . I cannot see any payrise or progression unless i was female within my department. I am looking to move jobs anyway as i was refused a payrise when other were given one.
How soon should i ask her out and how do i go about it ?

My suggestion offhand:
Perhaps start by asking her to eat lunch with you at work? Keep that casual, don't treat it as a full-blown date. Then, if the lunch goes well, maybe ask if she would like to go out to dinner after work sometime.
