How many people do you actually think are using this site for such purposes?

I mean, put it in the perscpetive of someone who would molest chldren/youngteens over the internet.

If you were like this- Why would you go to the Asperger's site to do this?

I mean wouldn't you try to pick on a much easier target like a 15-16 year old girl who is lonely on myspace or something?

I'm 20 so I may not be able to completely understand the subject, but if I was an NT and I wanted to do something like this, I probably wouldn't be using this site and trying to do something like that.

I make my living indirectly with the internet and I have been responsible for content filtering for several large and global companies. People are up to all sorts of things that you wouldn’t expect and commonly from people that you would least expect.
But I think some of you missed the point
Something sinister on this site???? Was posted as question for debate rather than a statement of fact but as with every debate everyone is entitled to an opinion.
I do not agree with every opinion but I respect the individual’s right to voice it.

With all this in mind Wrong Planet would be an easy hunting ground for deviant men/women (had to put women to make it fair) to groom and search out young girls/boys who they could manipulate for their own sick desires.

I'm game.

I really don't think it's much of a problem, our kind is fairly easy to spot just from reading their posts. It is very difficult to fake being on the spectrum, or at least I would think so.

There was a guy on here about 4 months ago who I thought could have been trying his luck with the women by acting. The things he was saying made him seem just too aloof, too stupid. Yet he had the stereotypical messy hair hot musician thing going on (he posted a pic).

Anyways that is the absolute scariest thing I have seen here and even so is quite tame I suppose. I think that one of the reasons there are so few NTs on this site is because it drives them totally nuts after a short time. This in a way, is a protection mechanism. Assuming of course that some of the more socially able minded would be inclined toward predatory behaviour. Clearly the vast majority are not.

I'm a guy, and not exactly vulnerable physically, but I'm a bit paranoid anyway. C'est la vie electronique.

Of all places this would theoretically be the "worst" place to prey on people. Sure some of us are vulnerable but, at the same time we're really cautious. Factor in that the person in question would have to be fairly blunt to get his/her point across to someone with AS.

I'd say to just chalk that thought up to paranoia. Nothing wrong with being cautious but this is the last site you'd have to worry about running into predators on.

Plus, I get the feeling that messing with one of us would be messing with all of us.

Aye, the backyard of mine attests to this.

Funny how most of the men disagree and most of the women agree to a large extent.
Hmmmmm why would that be?

The internet's the same as any other avenue of life: don't do anything too stupid, and you'll probably be OK. Now, admittedly, the golden rule of internet meetings is harder for those with AS to conform to: meet in a crowded place. But you could probably still find a coffee shop or something that was relatively quiet (and, of course, always have a fixed time to get back home, let someone know when you're intending to be back... but this stuff is good even if you're an NT and you met someone in a bar, you never really know who anyone is for a while, you have to take precautions).
IMO, people are far too paranoid about the internet. Most people online, like most people in real life, are not axe-murderers or rapists. Keep a hold of your credit cards, don't give out your address, be careful in any real-world meetings. And then stop worrying about it.

I agree with this man whole heartedly.

Don't give out too much personal information, be wary, and get to know people, and make sure that you know that they really exist before giving out anything too personal.

Girls tend to be more vulnerable to this than men, as there are more male sexual predators/sickos.

I guess if you take all the appropriate precautions, there's nothing to worry about.

So far, only 2 females replied to your thread and LadyMacbeth doesn't really agree 100% with your paranoid alarm .

I think the real question on everyone's lips is, has the president been alerted?
