I am a 25 year old man (26 soon) from Belgium. I am a traveller so my ideal girl is adventurous and joins me on my trips around the world. I am now residing in Turkey and will soon spend some time in Holland, afterwards I am hoping to go to Israel and Norway for a year ; however, if the girl of my dreams resides somewhere else then that is no problem. Being a traveller means long distances are no excuse for me not to go for it, on the contrary it is just another reason for more travels

Being passionate about travelling, I expect my girlfriend to be the same. If she wants to settle down and start a family then I think we're better off being just good friends rather than a couple. I do NOT want children and the coming years I want to travel from country to country without a long-term permanent home. My romantic ideal is travelling and moving around with my girlfriend so the lady definitely needs to be adventurous.

She also has to be passionate about music. It would be nice if we share at least a few bands but this is not necessarily. As long as she is passionate about music as well, preferably with attention to lyrics because I like to debate about the meaning of songs. I am a gothic and new-wave and indie-rock fan myself ; Echo & The Bunnymen, The Smiths, A Perfect Circle, Placebo, Bauhaus and Muse are just a few examples of the bands I frequently listen to. It would be nice to meet girls who like a few of these bands as well because they could be a nice icebreaker. But if the girl likes some other bands as well that I don't know well already, that is no problem, she can learn me to know them and I will learn her to know my favourites

I am also a football fan and love travelling to and visiting stadiums in combination with city trips. My girlfriend of course may be a soccer fan but it is not a necessarity. Heck, she may even support a team which has a rivalry with my team, I couldn't care less.

I pay great attention to honesty and loyalty to a partner, as I believe honesty is key to make a relationship work. Sense of humour is also not umimportant.

But most important I guess (and therefor biggest obstacle in my search for Miss Right): she has to want to travel because I do not want to stop moving the next couple of years. Ideally the girl is a traveller herself so that we can just travel and move around together.

since this is the 'love and dating' forum, for love and dating I'm interested in women... or actually a woman

I've spread my life story (well, really just certain chapters of it) around this website which are easier to find and read than having me re-type everything here.
To summarize though...

I like:
Music - I listen to it (just about all types... really!), and play it (mostly old-timey fiddle/banjo/mandolin, but also learning electric guitar/bass, saxophone, pennywhistle, and just about any other instrument I can get my hands on).

Outdoors - used to teach wilderness survival, have taken extended trips in the bush, but I like short hikes also - kayaking - running(although I can do that alone if necessary) - snowboarding (Shasta, Dodge Ridge, Ashland, and maybe someday Bend) - bicycling (I ride a recumbent although I still have my mountain bike) - snowshoeing and open to other outdoor activities.

I like independent movies, foreign films and some hollywood.

I like to read books on a variety of subjects

I am not into any organized religions, although I do consider myself spiritual (and a little superstitious sometimes)

I have never smoked, and drank/drink extremely little(no more than a glass of anything at one sitting, last time was probably several months ago at home), I'm not into pot or other recreational drugs.

I don't like loud places like clubs or bars (worked in too many to ever enjoy the 'scene'), but concerts I can handle with earplugs if necessary.

Any of my quirks surrounding my ADD/HD or anything else, you'll have to find out in person other than what you read on WP.

My daughter is the MOST important person in my life... yep... even more than me!

I like to cuddle and hug, but I am not comfortable with being pushy about that or anything else... it all comes down to respect.

I can type extremely long posts and might forget what the topic is about by the time I finish.

I'm wondering if I've said too much already or if there's something important I have missed...

Oh, I work and hopefully will own my own place within the next year.

After my daughter is on her own (4 or 5 years I figure), I'm looking to probably move away from the Northern California coast.

I really don't take this thread too seriously, but this is the only way I'll ever post a 'dating' profile about myself and the good part is I know this will be buried in the near future

After reading all that, I realize I forgot to say I am recently divorced (as of Sept. 1, 2007 according to the papers), and not bitter or angry with her, and I hope her life goes well for her.
It's tough to realize after 17 yrs, that looking at each other now, we can both acknowledge there are things that should have told us it was not going to be the best relationship for either one of us. I have to say though, we certainly tried (I had the pleasure of having the greatest mother-in-law... that's for sure!).
