I hear this in the beginning of a relationship from most girls.

I often find with girls that I've dated that they think I'm a bit eccentric and quirky and gravitate towards that, but once they realise it's part of something else then the reason they liked me ends up being the thing they can't handle about me.

Very frustrating!

Yeah I went through that. Girls thought my crippling "shyness" was adorable. They couldn't get enough of my social awkwardness. and then it alway happens, they take me a long to something were they expect me to be social and they don't realize that I just can't. I end up hurting saying or doing the wrong thing and then those things become a liability.

I WISH they tend to think I'm creepy or mentally retorted instead

I USED to hear that a lot, but cute and quirky kind of wear off after you turn 40.

It really depends on the situation. You learn how to act differently in various situations. For each situation, you put on a different game face and give it a shot as it's generally the path to success with the least amount of effort.

1. Charming if I'm on my best behavior in a business setting.
2. Standoffish in the typical business setting
3. Rude and condescending in most situations
4. Shy and polite in personal interactions

maybe for the first while then they learn I am caustic and snarky, and "just not that nice" to quote some recent run in's, no wasn't here.

It's often the other way around for me. It's my understanding that, at first, I come across as quiet and awkward (which is accurate enough) or shy (which I'm not). Then, if the person gets to know me, this transitions to "cute and quirky." I can live with that.

As a girl I do not believe any guys have found me "cute and quirky". Or if any have, I never heard about it.

I usually get the "cute and weird" label. I've gotten to the point where I explain from the beginning that I'm weird and I have issues. That scares off most of the guys, but the ones who stick around are usually there for a little longer.

Quirky? Almost always. Cute? Probably not. :(
