...there's this woman in the supermarket I go into who I quite fancy. She's very shy and extremely nervous, barely talks to anyone.

I'm there in the shop this evening and I pick up a bottle of another beer. When I come to check over what I've bought I see that it has been replaced with another bottle. Now I can't remember if I left the box out of sight and within easy reach of her to replace the bottle or if I put the wrong bottle in. I'm betting on the former. So I go back and she seems a bit tense and simply replace the bottlle.

Am I a loon with paranoia problems or am I in there? And should I open another drink?

I really don't want to ask her and come across as an absolute dick but I do wonder sometimes... she is rigid in appearance and in mannerisms, to put it mildly, but she is like this with everyone.

Am I right or not?

I'm sorry, I don't fully understand your story. You bought a bottle of beer, but it was suddenly a different bottle of beer? Was the original bottle empty and you think she replaced it with a full one?

No, I put a bottle of beer in my case. When I checked before I finally went to pay, it was a different bottle of beer - although very near to - the one I picked up. So I wondered if she had actually replaced it or if it was just me.

That seems like a downright strange story. I mean, who'd randomly replace a bottle of beer? Did she try to make some extra contact or something?

She was refilling the shelves round where I was. She was fairly near to me when I went back, but I don't know or can't tell. I think it's one of those situations where I might just see what happens and sod the consequences.

Are you sure she's not a ninja? They can be quite deceptive like that

I agree with your assessment.

You probably just did the switch by accident without thinking about it.Are you sure you didn't absent mindfully pick up that brand in the first place?
But moving on...what are you thinking of doing about this girl.Gonna flirt with her and see how she reacts?

If you make her feel more comfortable she might just open up to you.If she's as painfully Shy as you say I'm sure she would appreciate that a lot.

If she was a more expressive person anyway it would be much clearer, but she isn't, and I don't know.

I am going to do this tomorrow. And if it happens, I am going to have to have a beer whilst walking up that road so I am.

I'm not sure what your plan is, but is it going to be talking or just immediate flirting?

Well, actually, never mind, I'm not going to be able to give you any good advice on this. I can only really say good luck.

Did you leave the case somewhere so someone could switch the beer?
Had you already been drinking?

Anyway, its the next day, what happened?

Yes, in the beer aisle where I went to the other side of the supermarket to go get some cash. No, the shop was almost empty apart from me, my mum and the staff.
I was stone-cold sober.

And the beer was replaced with the one next to it, that I'd never drink anyway.

Couldn't speak to her the next day in any case - I was at the tills and my mum and another really smarmy guy who works there (that I dislike) was there too. I've thought of a little ruse, don't you worry.

ok, why wouldn't you drink it?

Did you think to ask your mum if she switched it? Or could it have been the dislikeable guy?

Disagreeable, bearded guy wasn't working. Mum was talking to the checkout woman, couldn't have got there anyway and wouldn't have done so.

Hmmm.. odd.
But you never said why you wouldn't drink that kind of beer. You might need to if it turned out she did put it in there and it is her favourite and a hint ;)
