And I am done with dating. I literally had to call a cab and kick this guy out with his knapsack of beer. Thank God for my pitbull, Henry or I'm not sure I would have been able to get rid of him so easily.

I will embrace my inner crazy cat lady and be content.
I find that my life has left me a bit rough for most nice guys, but the bad guys are such a trial (and often not very bright.)

I am too old for this crap.

I've had bad experiences on POF as well

Liars and prejudiced idiots (I feel no shame in calling them idiots). Online dating is a hellhole it seems for me, as most people are open to those who may happen to have a physical disability, but when you have Asperger's, you're automatically "Crazy" and "weird" to them.

Congratulations!

But is it just the fact that he's an ex-con that bothered you, or was it the specific crime he committed?

Ex-con does not say much...for me I would not reject someone on that principle alone, it would really depend on the nature of the crime they had been serving time for. For instance if it was a non-violent drug offense I would not care, if it was something like assualt, child abuse, animal abuse or worse then yeah wouldn't want to continue seeing them.

It is your choice to date or not, but not sure why the need to give up on relationships, just because one person you had a date with happened to be an ex-con, I am sure there are plenty of people that have never been arrested on POF and in general but its really up to you obviously.

Is real life dating not a hellhole?

I would imagine it would be as well. Due to my generalized and social anxiety, I barely speak to anyone in person anymore.

Out of her house obviously, where else her pitbull would be?

There's something untold here.

No mystery. Just a bad date. We ended up meeting at my place, something I wouldn't have done if not for Henry, and never went bowling.
My apologies to the ex-cons out there. I should know better than to cast general aspersions. I was just a little shaken up when I posted initially. The problem wasn't his criminal history (the detail about which I did not inquire.) The problems actually run much deeper. The main one is that he is a massive alcoholic. He told me he drinks 10 beers every day and he had already had a few when he showed up. And general incompatibility was an issue.
But no more on-line dating for me. If I meet someone it will have to be through happenstance.

Rule number 1 of online dating... NEVER have the first date at one's place of residence. that just screams booty call. not even the second. :?

this isn't one of those stereotypes people have of online dating, it's generally accepted by most people as fact.

I'm sure you're right, but in this case (fortunately) he was far more interested in consuming his beer than he was in me.

What a charming fellow.

Unfortunately, most of the folks on online dating sites you'll find are very similar in this regard.
