Happened 2 weeks ago.

I haven't touched paint in over 20 years and haven't really developed my artistic skills since middle school. I quietly worked on this little paiting in the evenings after work for 3 weeks. Mixing shades is hard.

It was meant to be a token of our friendship and express my appreciation in a way that I am not able to do with words.

I was told she didn't want anything I've put a lot of soul into.

The painting is named "Introduction", because it was meant to introduce me to acrylic paint, as well as me to her. Depicted in the painting a tabby cat staring our of an old window at a ladybug with excitement while simultaneously licking the glass. Appropriately wacky, which is very me.

I planned a series of paintings depicting her (mostly childhood) memories and her dreams. This was a practice painting before I got into the more serious stuff.

I think it is a very nice painting, and it very much looks like it has soul within it. I am unsure of your purpose here, but I would like to assure you of the quality of the painting. Good day

I think that's a really sweet picture, and you did a great job. I'd be very flattered if someone painted it for me.

I'm sorry if she hurt your feelings.

I hope you keep painting.

Who was "she" and what did "she" mean?

Who was "she" and what did "she" mean?

She is... a longtime interest. I didn't know it yet, but she was trying to eject me from her life, and apparently didn't want any objects that would have an emotional connection.

Ok that makes sense, BTW that's a beautiful painting, you are extremely talented.

That was a rejection.

The ultimate form of it.

So I've kept it in my kitchen pantry all this time, out of sight because I can't stand seeing it.

Once in a while I come across a person whom I think about giving it to. The condition is that I don't want to see it again, and likely the person. A few days ago I came across such a person, but I ultimately decided they weren't worthy even of this.

Should I just sell it or something? I see original works (cats) in this size in acrylic go for about 100-150 clams on Etsy, which to me isn't even worth bothering with, but in terms of quality I do see that mine is definitely not the ugliest, it's probably about average. There are some really pretty works, but most of those are ads for custom painting service (you provide a photo to paint from). I guess it's not even worth pawning it off for money.

I know my mom wouldn't reject it, but since I visit several times a week the whole point is me not seeing it anymore.

Didn't touch the brush again. I thought maybe I will have a partner who will want to paint, but I think I'll ultimately end up giving all my supplies to mom (she does paint, and quite well).

My daughter would go nuts over it

The condition would be that I must not see you again. Anywhere.

Don't sell it to her, she'll use it as her avatar.

If you don't want to see it again and you can't be arsed to sell it, you might want to donate it to Goodwill or an op-shop where they can make a couple of bucks off it and some kid will have a cute new painting for their bedroom.

That seems like a win-win imo.

Make sure you have some nice photos of it for posterity.

I was gonna suggest someone you know online might appreciate it. You could specify the condition that they'll never mention it except to thank you or whatever when they get it & that they won't post it on social media or something so you wouldn't risk seeing it again  Of coarse you'd have to figure out how far you'd be willing to ship it to & how much the shipping & packaging could cost. I know it would s#ck for you to be out even more money :(

If I saw you in person I'd suggest taking it off your hands to give to my girlfriend. She really likes cats & is into art. I think the pic is cute but I'm not into art. I don't have the best vision & I'm not a very visual person. I'm also not sentimental. People who know me would know not to give me art unless it looked really kewl like something that you'd might see in a syfy show or metal video or it was a painting of a specific person. Cass kinda wishes I shared more of her interests but that's another topic
