I don't blame him for wanting companionship or a relationship. However, look at it from a different perspective - if you're on one of these sites, you have thousands of people to look through. He sends off a lot of wrong vibes; he'll move without hesitation, he wants people to call his answering machine - and sure he says it's just to make sure the women are real, but how does anyone actually know that? ID block can be gotten around these days anyway -, he's offering a reward to someone who sets him up on a date. If a woman was to respond favorably and then decided that she wasn't interested, how easily do you think he'd let her go? It's natural to be wary.
