I remember back in high school I was saying to one of my ex friends how I found this girl in my class quite attractive. He then said to me “Well to her you are invisible” and “Loads of guys go for her”.

Was he trying to put me down by saying that to me or was he just being brutally honest?

I wish I could be invisible.

I don’t think your friend was being very nice.

Well what message do you think he was trying to say to me when he said “You are invisible to her”

He might've just been trying to be honest.

He's telling you she's barely aware of you and that the interest was one-sided.

My female teacher called me a “handsome lad” once though so I don’t get how I could have been invisible?

Maybe you should see if this female teacher is currently single.

It sounds like you had more of a chance with the teacher than your crush.

One person finding you attractive doesn't mean another one does.

Indeed, but she noticed you meanwhile it sounds like the girl was oblivious to your existence.

I'm not sure it matters whether or not it's a compliment or not.
It just means she evaluated you better than the girl who didn't know you existed.

I suppose the teacher calling me handsome is just her personal opinion and does not mean that it was true.

Doesn't mean you're not attractive though. It just means she's not interested in you because you're not her type. Maybe you're too socially awkward.

Yeah a lot of women might prefer guys with darker hair to me if your talking about the subject of ‘type’.
