Okay so I was sitting in a hall listening to music on my laptop... but I was watching people walking past.

A girl who I've talked to walked by, and I only moderately noticed her... since well I was rocking out to my music. But as she walked past she touched me on my arm and said 'Hi Pugly' (well my real name...) ... it was very quick she was walking past with her friends.

Being the socially awkward goof that I am, I can never interpret touch the proper way. Does touch mean something, or do other people, especially women, like to touch much more than I am aware of...

If I touch someone, she can be very sure that I am interested in her...

We need more juicy details! Er... I mean... background information. What have you talked about? How often? Body language during conversations? How does she behave around other guys?

The code says, if a girl touches your arm, she likes you. Now the question is, does the girl follow the code.

Actually, now that I think about it. What is there to analyze... she touched me first... that means I get to touch her. 8)

(joking... :D ... maybe)

Details: as most girls who are aware of me are... she's someone I've tutored. She's very attractive, and dresses what I think is very stylishly... though nothing over the top.

Everytime I've helped her, she's really gotten the hang of what I explaining. And we move 'closer' and understand each other and laugh and such. We really communicate well...

She's also asked for my help outside of the tutoring center too, she saw me eating from across the way... and came up and asked for some help.

I normally wouldn't think anything of any of this... but she's smiled and says hi to me in the halls before. And now this. I was expecting her to say hi, but not touch to touch my arm...

She obviously likes me on some level.

I know people who always touch when they speak. They are what I call 'touchy feelie." It's like it is a part of their language, or an intrinsic way of communicating, or something. Then again, she may have touched you to make sure she got your attention, since you were listening to music, and might not have heard her greeting.

I think you got it right there actually...

(this is rolling eyes at myself... not you)

But she did want to get my attention when I obviously was 'busy'...hmm... :?:

I wouldn't read too much into it. I agree with hartzofspace, some people use touch as a regular part of communication.

There are several people at my office (both male and female) who do this whenever I'm talking to them. I know they mean nothing by it, although I have to stop myself from noticeably cringing whenever they touch me in the midst of a conversation.

Observe how she interacts with other guys, if you can.

My hunch is that she likes you a lot.

WHAT? We are giving in so soon?

Just going to chalk it up to a touchie feelie girl?
Pure CRAP! There must be something else we can do -- short of stalking.

Anyway, my point is. Well we can't jump to any conclusions. How's this:

She touched you because she wanted to get your attention -- right? I mean, at the very least. Code dictates touch arm = likey likey, so even if she doesn't follow the code, it was apparently important enough for her to get your attention when she thought you might not otherwise take notice of her.

Ha! Take that! It was *important* to her that she receive your attention. There. She's in love.

(Okay, not the latter part, but at least I didn't give up on the situation ^__^)

Oh, I'm not giving up, no way, no how. Next time I see her, I'm asking for phone numbers... :D

I used to ride with my older neighbor to the grocery store. Each time, the ride was fraught with suspense. Would she do it again, even though I asked her not to? Then, she would do it. Once it was the back of my hand, while it was resting on my purse. Just to tell me it was a nice purse. Ugh! I finally stopped riding with her. Got tired of saying, I don't like casual touch. Would feel so tense, and irritable, and keep feeling the touch long after it was over... :x

But Pugly, I hope for your sake, that she likes you.

I recently had a girl do this repeatedly, yet she didn't consider me good enough to introduce to her friends.
