Aside from looks, what kinds of things do men look for in a woman?

Someone I can spend the rest of my life with.

Although I get the feeling that I'm not in the majority on that one...

I have a weakness for raw intelligence even though I know it's way overrated.

i guess im not really the best to ask, when interested in majority opinion, but here it goes:

-someone i can relate to. i guess i can say this among us aspies without needing to explain why it is hard to find someone you can respect and "view on eye level".
-someone i can just love for who they are. including funny quircks, offbeat things, little failures and incredibly beautiful abilities that happen to be considered useless. its the whole package that is loveable, not the assortment of positive traits or the cumulative score on the checklist.

and a lot of thing i cant really put into words exactly... but theres that feeling that the world you knew stopped being and was exchanged overnight - a bit like boring reality grew fairytale...

nah, basically, i look for someone i can love. thats it.

a certain compatibility in terms of looks is, of course, included in that, but from my experience, theres a lot of truth to the saying "we dont love people because they are beautiful, we find them beautiful because we love them"

Gekitsu, awwwww, you're sweet.
My husband always calls me beautiful. I look in the mirror and see a fat, old lady with plain looks. So your statement that we call people beautiful because we love them is true.

Well to start with, creativity is a HUGE turn-on. I guess I could say generally that Im looking for a person who is intelligent, unconventional, empathic("understanding"), not overly stubborn, artistic, honest, direct, and sensitive. Turn-off for me include pretense, narcissism, sarcasm, dishonesty, apathy, fickleness, stubborness, manipulative tendencies, and passive-aggression.

I like girls who are really kind not just to me but to total strangers and even ppl they don't really like. Appearance is important but

I'll just put it out there that I used to have a big crush on a girl whom at first I thought was ugly but she had the best personality I

ever came into contact with so it's not all looks and NOT STUPID doesn't have to be smart but cannot be willingly ignorant I HATE

THAT SOOOO MUCH!! !

Oh and she's got to be brave b/c although I have social fears I can really manage to work up the nerve to conquer all my fears

and keep moving, so no being scared of a guy that dumped her or a girl who used to pick on her just ignore them.

Character
Intelligence

Especially character - it is both good for compatibility as well as an excellent indicator of potential as a long-term mate in a variety of dimensions. If you are looking for a criterion in a monogamist society to be more than a superficial fling, that's it.

And remember - "the fastest way to a man's heart is through his stomach". Sex << food. ;)

Being able to relate, which is different from being 'understood'
Their character, essence and mind.

Even if she is beautiful, I can't know if I like someone unless I get to know them more.
