Just curious about how guys on here felt about dating women older than themselves. And if yes, why, and if not, why not?

May I suggest a 4th option on your poll?

4. Older than what?

I messed up and can't fix it! I was trying to put the options of yes, no, never, or depends upon the woman. Can you fix it Merle? And yes, add that option that you suggested, please.

I'd probably go out as far as ~32 (I'm 25)

I guess the "Yes" option didn't go in the right place, either! I should go to bed.

I like women that are mentally mature, whether they are physically older than me or not. But as far as age goes, I'm much more attracted to older women than younger ones. :P

But not someone's grandmother.

Depends on the person more than anything else.

I really want to have a fling with a cougar, there's just so much I could learn. Older women are very reassuring to be around.

It's not so much a question of "would I date them," but "would they date me." I think most women find immaturity to be a huge turn-off, therefore it's unlikely that they would date a guy who was much younger than them.

There's no point in having an option for "yes" in addition to one for "depends upon the woman". The two choices are "No" and "Depends on the woman".

Sure, I would. Actually I find older people easier to talk to. I had a neighbor who never talked to me, and I was never comfortable with her. Her mom and her aunt would talk to me, though. It must be that older people are generally nicer and have better social skills, perhaps enough to cover where I am lacking. It takes two to make things awkward. Generally, I can connect with people who have enough social skills to bridge the gap.

On the other hand, if the other person's social skills are the same as mine, then things get awkward. I tend to be a little awkward, but this straightens out if the other person is patient and a rapport is established. At the Hertz conference, a fellow science PhD had awkward interaction with me. Somehow the awkwardness kept getting amplified more and more as the exchange went back and forth, and now I am very uncomfortable with her, and perhaps this is irreparable. Awkward interaction with another former science student my age? What are the odds of that? Experience teaches me that I should be looking outside of my age group and profession for partners.

I prefer it. I want a woman at least 30, up to maybe 48.

Would You Date An Older Woman?

it depends on the woman and how we would get along in our daily life... but the same goes if she was younger than me! to me age is not the issue.
