This is in such poor taste, after Friday's shooting. This thread should be locked out of respect for the women who were murdered by a self-described incel.

You're not going to stop incel shootings by showing incels utter disdain.

How many incels are there? Probably thousands. How many have committed shootings like this? Maybe like 5 in the past 4 years. I guess that means we should line everyone up who identifies as incel and allow a firing squad to shoot them all. You'd like that, wouldn't you?

Yes, I have disdain for anyone who supports shootings like this and I won't apologize for that.

The rest of your comment is a straw man irrelevant argument that has nothing to do with my comment.

There are a lot of quite hatefull, dishonest and often direspectfull people here in Germany now who seem to have a problem to accept the culture here. There may be a difference to the countries where this people come from.

The problem in Germany and many European countries is not that there are muslim immigrants but that the governments are not being sufficiently selective in who they accept, and are accepting too many people too fast without allowing time for new immigrants to assimilate or integrate.

When my ancestors immigrated from Europe to the U.S. to escape anti semitism in the early 1900s, the U.S. would not accept polygamists, anarchists, people with certain health issues, people who already had a job lined up (they didn't want jobs Americans could take being reserved for immigrants), and they turned back a number of Roma gypsies because they were willing to work for low wages and thus would drive down the standard of living.

Upon application for naturalization, my ancestors had to disavow any allegience to their country of origin.

And most importantly, my ancestors wanted to not just live in a better country, but they wanted to be American and they wanted their children to be American. They anglicized their Yiddish names, spoke only English to their kids, and celebrated "American" holidays such as Christmas and Easter even though they were jewish.

I don't propose that one need to take it is far as my ancestors and celebrate holidays not associsted with one's religion but one should either partially or fully adopr the culture and customs of their new country and leave the things that made their home country places they wanted to leave, in their home country.

Didn't we already discuss this for like 20 pages and come to the consensus that people are indifferent towards sexless men but dislike the violent/threatening types who identify with the label "incel," and either are violent/rapists or threaten to be?

There's a huge difference between some regular guy who doesn't have sex and some crazy as*hole who wants to rape and murder because he doesn't have sex.

I think the OP is confusing the general sentiment of the public towards the crazy threatening ones with what people think of All sexless men.

Of course, the shooting is (like all shootings) tragic and inexcusable.

But posts like this are exactly why this thread is relevant. You point to some instances in which individuals who identify as incels carry out horrible acts of violence, and use them as justification to condemn all lonely men. We all readily acknowledge that as bigoted when it is done in regards to any other group.

And Incel is not something I call myself; it's a reality of my existence. I'm getting pretty fed up with having to repeat this.

How many Muslims need to go on killing sprees before we stop talking about how unfair it is to judge people negatively for calling themselves Muslims?

F***ing SJWs and your bullsh!t double standards!

And by the way, this thread was started on October 27. In case you're bad at math, that was a whole week before Friday. Just an FYI.

I very clearly stated (twice) in my brief comment that I was talking about people who identify as incels, not lonely people (because not all lonely people call themselves incels.)

I realize the thread was started before the shooting, but now that the shooting has happened I think it's disrespectful of the victims to let it continue. I would say the same about a thread defending anti-Semitic rhetoric that was started before the Tree of Life shooting, that after the shooting it should be locked out of respect for the victims of that anti-Semitic murderous attack.

I'm not even going to address the ridiculous "SJW" hyperbole directly because it's not worth my time or energy.

The topic of this thread is not analogous to an anti-Semitic thread because it is not anti-women or any other group. It exists to defend the thousands of non-violent lonely men lime myself who are constantly compared unfairly to the likes of Elliot Rodger.

Every time a shooting like this does occur, thousands of men whose only crime is being socially awkward and lonely (often due to falling on the Autism Spectrum) are treated by everyone around like they're monsters. Which is why this topic is particularly relevant in the wake of Friday's shooting and is in no way disrespectful to the victims.

Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a number of politicians and celebrities around the US and world came out to remind everyone that the terrorists do not represent all Muslims and that the majority of Muslims are kind and peaceful people. From your point of view, that was disrespectful to the victims as well. Right?

In fact, the only way anyone can consider it disrespectful is if you think all lonely men are responsible for or endorse such crimes.

Here are your own words: "How many incels need to go on killing sprees before we stop talking about how unfair it is to judge people negatively for calling themselves incels?"

Your own comment reveals that you simply want to use these tragedies as an excuse to rationalize your bigotry. You speak out both sides of your mouth, first proclaiming "all incels", but then trying to backpedal when called out on your bigotry to claim you only meant a specific narrow group of incels. Nice try, but your words are right here for all to see.

It is only your own bigoted strawman view which claims that all lonely men support these shootings.

But I see you are completely in favor of shooting lonely men.

At what point was this consensus reached? Because in my experience, one of the favoured insults towards men is to call them a virgin. That's not the result of indifference.

Thank God we have you helping the victims of a shooting by making sure the word incel is blocked from referral on an autism support forum. The families of the victims undoubtedly commend your gesture of respect. I'd salute you for your noble efforts, but no doubt that would be disrespectful to somebody, somewhere in the future.

Yes virgin is used as an insult but is it used as an insult to mean a shy guy or is it used to mean a psycho?

It's pretty synonymous with "beta male" and "autist". If you're in any way shy, nerdy, annoying, whiny, etcetera, you'll probably get some comment about being an autistic virgin.

The fact that the word itself is used as a standard insult shows how low people think of virgins. Also those on the spectrum, but that's a whole different can of worms.

If by "incels" you are referring to a specific narrow group of self-identified individuals who congregate online and spew hatred and misogyny, then I have never traveled in those circles and was not even aware of their existence until now.

However, I am not in the slightest convinced that what most posters mean, as you claim. As evidence, I direct you to Aspie19828's post:

Aspie19828 wrote:
Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma bomber was an incel, Columbine shooters were incels, Elliot Rodger was an incel, numerous mass shooters and serial killers have all been incels. Facts and evidence reveal true incels are evil people that carry out real crimes.

Note that the poster refers to the perpetrators of the Oklahoma City Bombing and the Columbine shooting as incels, despite the fact that both of these events took place many years before the term incel was coined or online incel forums existed. This proves that Aspie19828 did not mean exclusively self-identifying incels when they proclaimed "facts and evidence reveal true incels are evil people that carry out real crimes", but lonely men in general.

People claiming that by "incels" they do not mean all lonely men are talking out of both sides of their mouths. First, they proclaim "all incels", but when backed into a corner regarding their bigotry they attempt to backpedal by claiming they only meant self-identifying incels. But Aspie19828 has unwittingly exposed that particular lie.

Regardless of whatever semantics are in play, it is a reality of my life that I have rarely been able to attract a girlfriend due to my Autism. The only exception was when I spent two years in a toxic and emotionally abusive relationship with a woman who exploited my loneliness and insecurities to manipulate and use me. That relationship ended over 10 years ago and I have not experienced any romantic success since then.

I accept that no woman is obligated to settle for a loser like myself when there are always much better options available. I do not begrudge them that. I am aware it is neither the fault of women nor genetically superior men that I am a loser. I accept that this is my own failing, not a conspiracy to keep me miserable.

Yet when I attempted to express my feelings of depression and despair to others, hoping to find support; instead I was often mocked as a loser, labeled a misogynist, told I think I'm entitled to sex, and compared to Elliot Rodgers.

There are thousands of people like me, possibly even millions, who never have and never would hurt or condone hurting anyone. We are driven to depression by our loneliness, often ending in suicide. But nobody ever notices. It is only the Rodgers and Minassians the world ever sees. And I'm tired of it.

Very good point. All the media ever focuses on are incels who go around killing or inflicting harm to others, which makes some sense since it affects more people when they do that than suicide. But I've heard that for every one incel who goes out and commits violence on others, there's 10 who just commit suicide, not physically harming anyone else, and yet there's no initiative to lower the incel suicide rate. But that's never covered or else people might actually be able to better empathise with incels and lonely men.

Closer to 1,000 suicides for every shooting. Probably much higher than even that.

She actually had the habit in every incel-related thread to post a lot of links to violent dogmatic incel forums with 100-200 members each; not knowing that:

1- She's doing a disservice for WP by associating our forum to these forums in search engine results.
2- She's unintentionally doing a favor to those dogmatic incels by promoting their links.

I can empathize with lonely men, but not the ones that want to throw acid in my face.

I, honestly, don't believe that many lonely men would throw acid in anybody's face.

I believe "incel" has acquired an undesirable meaning---and, if I were "involuntarily celibate," I would never use it.

I've been a lonely man many times. The thought never hit me to throw acid in anybody's face.

I was bullied in school. I never thought to shoot up a school.

I only thought that I had to "up my game." By not seeming so desperate.
