My philosophy of food is only eat what you need, not what you want!

We OCCASIONALLY have fast food, but it's rare. I prefer not to set foot in any restaurant unless I work there.

We did a brief stint on welfare (WIC). We knew it was time to let it go once we noticed we eat out at least once a week. We currently receive no assistance, but due to finances we make a point of only going out once a month.

I went from 230 lbs. to under 180. As of today, that is. I went running this morning and have been mowing the lawn ever since, so that's roughly 2 liters of water every hour. I haven't eliminated much, but I expect to be up all night paying for it. Chances are good I'll be back down to 168 by Monday.

While I'm recovering, I just ate the last slice of veggie pizza I made last night and a stick of string cheese, and that was the first solid nutrition I've had all day (I fast on Saturdays until sunset). Tonight we have spaghetti and meatballs. Yum!

I've also found beer to be invaluable for carb recovery. I don't really feel like getting out and braving mosquitoes to hit the convenience store for cheap beer, but we still have half a bottle of wine to finish. I should sleep well tonight! lol

Sly said women always say in their profiles that you need a job, a car and a place to live. Maybe you could point out explicitly where in those adverts it says those things?

I think you are being overly opedantic about his wording. It is heavily implied that they want an independent man with a full-time job, a car and a place of his own.

There's a reason she's noted she has a professional career and she's a home owner. She obviously values those things and won't want a man working part-time who doesn't own a home or at least rent his own place.

This one wants a man who is career oriented, that is not a man working part-time supplemented by benefits.

And you're being overly optimistic and you're also missing the point. Sly's "excuse" for being single is that women only want men with money and cars, and his evidence for that is that dating ads all state the man needs a job, a place and a car. I've shown that's not the case by picking adverts in an organic fashion, and even by cherry picking adverts Sly still hasn't proven the point.

The takeaway here is not the adverts, it's that Sly is building this idea in his head that simply isn't true and I'm trying to show that.

I agree that not all women have these requirements. I'd even claim that many ND women don't.

Saying that most women want a man with a job is not sexism - it's a statistical fact.

That even includes the women who never been married and probably are going to die single, yet still refusing the idea to date an unemployed man:

According to the PEW research, which is a very reliable source btw, unemployment among men is on the rise but women are NOT adjusting to this reality: Meaning, that most women are still refusing to marry unemployed men and support them financially, the househusband role is still not an option that occur in people's minds too.
On the other hand, there are plenty of working men who are willing to marry unemployed women, the housewife "profession" still exists a lot and still relatively a popular option (yet i think those men are being stupid, it's time for men to be as harsh in their standards and in mating selection)

So this what's going on due to the widening gender gap in unemployement: In the unmarried pool, there are more working women, yet most men in the pool are unemployed or poor (according to other studies)- so beyond a certain age, the unmarried adult women aren't going to find what they want among the unmarried men and are totally unwilling to change their standards.

So sly's struggle is real, most men without job or with low paid job are going to struggle to find a wife or a gf.
These are statistical facts and we see it in everyday life (never in my life I heard a woman saying to be willing to marry a man without a job, never at all- not even once); denying it just to be PC is stupid.
