Aspie women why do you defend all women?
I'm not the type of person who would choose to experience great stress and discomfort if it means I have a job.
Look, I think even NTs do, but for them going to work daily for 10-12hrs doesn't feel like life or death.
There's having a job that causes you some stress and then there's literally feeling like just showing up is a life or death situation that gets your adrenaline pumping and heart rate up.
Pushing yourself to your mental and physical peak.
Would you take a job where you hunt a lion day 1? An uncaged, untrained, wild bloodlusted lion you.must hunt with nothing more than a knife. You must do this every day at work. Would you feel.comfortable or would you be afraid?
That sums up every volunteer position I try to undertake.
Okay, so you do understand what I go through.
But you can't understand why, unlike you, not everyone is strong enough (yet) to hunt a lion 5 days a week for 8hrs?
You can't see why the daily pain you experience would break.some people.not as mentally strong?
Mental toughness is a muscle, it has to be built up slowly and atrophies when it isn't used.
You have built your.mental toughness overtime, so you should have consideration for the fact others are at day 1 of mental.toughness training.

I was actually made tough as a child because I had to protect myself. You're right, I don't understand why some people don't try. I would love to work 20 hours a week, but I cannot afford to. If pushing myself to the absolute limit, which I am doing, means I don't have to worry as much about money, I'll do it. Like I said, I am hard on myself. Very, very hard on myself. If I don't work and earn enough money to live independently, it's not good enough and I try harder. Feeling defective is not acceptable to me.
I don't get why feeling defective is acceptable to other people.
Your choice of wording says it all.
I DONT feel "defective" or weak, or useless or a loser.
When I'm very depressed sure but in my day to day life I'm.just a.normal person with abnormal problems.and difficulties.
I am not automatically inferior to NTs if working a job is more difficult..
And besides. If I did believe I was "defective" how is that supposed to help my mental health?
People thought i was ambitious and hardworking in high school.
In the areas that matter to.me sure, in music, health, fitness, happiness yes, in career and living alone no.
I am very hard on myself in these areas, but not in the areas that 'matter'. Not in career or financial independence.
The fact people with.mental illnesses are considered losers by society says it all.

How can you eat only $90 per month? I spend more than that on food in 3 days!
It's barely enough to take a girl out on a nice date.
What is your dating budget per month?
Whatever it is you should increase it. Show the girl a good time and she may want a follow up date.
I realise you don't have a lot of money but you need to find a way to increase your income if you ever want girls to show interest in you.

Not you specifically, but some people use aspergers as an excuse so they don't have to try. I had the option of getting government money and doing nothing with my life but I refused it. The last thing I want is to be seen as less capable than NT's when it's not the case at all.
I am different though. I hold myself to extremely high expectations, and it probably explains why I hold others to those as well. I also grew up in a family where I was encouraged to do my best and do something with my life.
I hope you don't go around telling people you have 'A permanent disability" because it's really not something that people find attractive. I never mention my problems at all, the last thing I want to do is draw people's attention to the fact I'm different.
Excellent! It's laudable that you hold yourself to high standards! You're doing a very good thing by showing the world that not all aspies have to sit around at home all day.

Am I the only one who thinks it's more mature for a guy to evaluate his finances and priorities and come to the conclusion that a car isn't feasible, than trying to cram a car into an already strained budget?
Then again, I may be the only woman on the planet who appreciate good sense and frugality. There are times in my life I could've bought a car, but it was an extra source of stress I didn't need.

It's only possible if he just eats rice.

No, you're not
That man with the nice flashy $500,000 car may have just blew his life savings on it, while that guy with the $1,000 crapmobile might still have his $500K in the bank.
But seems everyone just wants to constantly.upgrade as soon as possible rather for the long, LONG TERM.
Like Sly said this is common in western societies.
People want the latest $800 iSh*t Phone, the new 3D, 4K 50 inch flat screen PanaPhonie TV with pre-installed GayNetflix, the flashy 400K BMW, TWO in fact, etc.
Imo many middle class families are very materialistic and every middle class house nowadays has a lot of expensive cars, electronics, etc. Only the latest and greatest.
Nothing second hand, no hand me downs, nothing older than 5 years.
My TV is over 10 years old, my desk second hand, before it broke down I was using a 7 year old computer. My mini fridge which broke down last year was like 17 years old from an uncle and it still lasted me about 10 months.

You're not the only one. I agree with Outrider on this. I sold my car when I realised it takes 15 minutes to get to the city by train and 45 minutes by car. I've had much more money since I sold it.
I feel the same way about people going overseas just so they can post it on Facebook. Thousands of dollars flushed down the toilet just so they can take a selfie in front of the Eiffel Tower. Travel has turned into conspicuous consumption. I'd be more impressed if they invested the money.
Rather than wasting money on the form-over-function iPhone X, I'm still using a BlackBerry!

That too.
I think historically middle class could never afford a lot of.the things today in their whole lifetime and now that they can (barely) they're trying to live the high class life.
So many middle class punch above their weight and try to live like theyre.richer than they really are.
Thats why you see people.making $100,000 a year living paycheck to paycheck.
"What are your spending habits?"
"Oh, we're really careful with our spending! Just petrol for our two four wheel drives. $15 YMCA membership for Jimmy, my $30 a month gym.membership, $10 an hour for our gardener, $15 a month for Sarah's youth group, $2400 a year on the new iphone (one for each kid), $3000 a fortnight on food (cause the fathers a bit chubby. Little Jimmy is a bodybuilder), about $5,000, a year for.birthday and Christmas.presents, our $6,000 holiday at the end of the year, bills, car rego, my $50 on Sportsnet every Friday nights when the games on, $50 at the pub on fridays, a pack a day of cigarettes, Angelica's piano lessons, her $15 a week swimming lessons, $20 allowance per week for all 3 kids, a new $8000 TV every Two years, new $6000 laptop every two years for each kid plus my wife. every new.console when it comes out straight away, when we spend about $50 going out to dinner as a family 3 night a week and $30-80 going out somewhere on Saturday.
I just don't know where all The.money goes.
*scratches his head, takes a sip from.his sixth $5 coffee of the day while talking.to his friend at the restaurant. Takes.a bite out of his $20 meal.

Are you guys being serious or am I just missing the joke? As far as I know 90 dollars is pretty much the same as 90 euros and that's a lot; you can eat well with it as long as you pay attention to the budget. Make a lot yourself, make a lot at once, buy the groceries where they are cheapest, keep an eye on products that are on sale, don't buy coffee or the like from cafes and just drink them at home, don't go to restaurants a lot etc.
Of course just because you could doesn't mean that you have to; if you can afford to pay 90 dollars/whatever currency you use on food for three days and don't mind doing so then there's no reason to change it.
I personally never buy any food or drink when I go out and always take.something with me, don't eat fast food, don't drink alcohol, don't drink coffee,.smoke, etc.
The savings do wonders!
I do occasionally buy chocolate milk. Which really doesn’t fit my expensive.
I buy protein bar and shakes for one meal, for breakfast I have cereal and almond milk, dinner is chicken and rice or instant mash potatoes. Rice is $3 and last s month or so, and I buy some more expensive rice that microwaves for days I don’t have 30 mins to cook the cheap rice. I don’t have any habits anymore. No coffee or energy drinks, I don’t drink alcohol, and I don’t smoke.
As for middle class most I’ve known are one pay check away from losing everything. As in if they lost their job next month they’d lose their house, cars, expensive electronics etc. I’ve seen ones who do desperately trying to sell guns, phones, etc so they can pay their mortgage that month. They take a 3000 dollar gun and try to sell it for 1,000.
My friends parents lost their cars multiple times.
Hale_Bopp I understand on paper these are good things for Sly to have, but Sly is trying to work within his range. That would be like telling a kid that tomorrow he should be a doctor. You can't be a doctor in one day, it takes years of training and a lot of college degree work. Likewise, some of these things look very expensive for Sly. I think for now Sly should focus on his depression and self esteem issues first before tackling all of those other problems. You can't eat an entire elephant in on sitting. You eat an elephant one bite at a time. I'm betting that Sly should take the advice he is getting and go with that advice expecting he has to keep at it for a good amount of years to get true results back. But he has to keep at it even when it hurts.
For example, a new job? A new job that pays well takes a crap ton of time to find and to actually get selected. At one interview for a job I saw the employer carry a stack, literally a stack, of papers that were resumes for the same position I was wanting.
What city do you live in? I can guarantee I can find you something of interest either job wise or interest wise. It costs nothing to you, just tell me where you live and humor me.
I gave it in another thead but I probably shouldn’t be sharing my location publicly:s
